Hi All,

i am now thinking of another project after the last one. hehehehehee.

i am trying to source about 7 pink diamonds 1-2pointers; which i now understand are melee size. They are to be evenly placed on a white gold band to sit next to my spinning rings, on my left hand. Unfortunately, the search that i have conducted: google, ebay and various traders on PS; only have singular pink diamond or parcels over 1 ct. So, i am now asking for help from other PSers that are into FCD to help locate these, or advice if type of parcels (7) is not possible.

FIPP or FIP colour is what i am looking for but given that it is hard to locate, happy to look at any pink colour. I am hoping that i dont have to buy these diamonds individually.

thank you in advance.

Hi, Greg, normally the person who makes the band sources melee stones. It is better for them to do it because they can generally buy for less than we do. So choose the maker of your ring and ask them to source the stones. I think they are quite expensive, but fortunately your project calls for a smaller number! Can't wait to see it!

Thanx DS...i think this one will take a while as pinks are really expensive, so finding out how much it will cost is the first step!!!

I just realised that i have an obsession with diamonds.... I think i always knew it, but since finidng this forum- i am going just a bit crazy... i have like 3-5 ideas in my head... but then i dont have the fingers to wear them all, in the manner that they deserve............

Disclaimer, I have never done business with this vendor, but they sure make it easy to buy melee . . . other FCD vendors take note.

Ooooh goodness in helping one PS'er I think you've ended up helping me as well!

Welcome to the club, Greg! We do have a great hobby, but it can definitely be expensive! You just have to alternate rings and wear a couple at a time. That way you can enjoy them without getting tired of any! That is how I justify it, anyway! :))

www.diamondsbylauren.com is in NYC and specializes in coloured diamonds. Call and speak to David (he posts on the forum as RockDiamond).

I would also suggest www.robinsondesignergoldsmith.com but they are not accepting new projects.

THans Yssie.

I have pink diamond melee (1 pointers, I think) in my engagement ring. They're set in rose gold and look amazing. I think that if you have a particular need to set them in white gold, you'd need to go for a very saturated pink colour to make them stand out. Mine are Argyle melee (5P) and are very definitely pink, but I think they'd look far less pretty and far more washed out and faint if they were set in white gold.

I am also a Perthie and had my ring made by RDG (Yssie mentioned them above). Sounds like a very interesting project you have in mind - can't wait to see it come to fruition.

Yay- another Perth-ite!! woo hoo!!!

Yes- all my rings are white gold, so a saturated/ intense pink would be the better colour against the white gold.
However, i have a few ideas-
1) all one colour of pink ( or as close as possible);
2) one vintense and the others intense pink
3) one vivid intense PP and the rest white

i just love the FIPP - fancy intense purple pink. hmmm lots to think about... hehehehehe as menitoned in the other forum, i am starting to go crazy with diamonds!!!! i may stop once i realise how $$ the pinks are!!! hehehehehehe

There are lots of issues, actual colour of the material is only one of them. With larger diamonds there is more coloured material present. Diamond cut has a significant effect on colour perception face-up, which is what you care about. Then there's the fact that all diamonds, big and small, will "leak" (allow light escape through the underside), and adjacent white metal reflecting back into the stone is going to be counterproductive - that's why many coloured diamonds are set in coloured metal, or with coloured metal cups. "Pink" is not one colour - different shades of pink will look better in rose gold (which is more peach than purple) than others...

David at DBL is wonderful to work with, I had a very good experience with him. He can advise you on what sorts of melee will best fit your aesthetic and budget. I personally would shy from putting purple anywhere near peachy but that's a question better suited to someone with less - shall we say conventional? - tastes than me.

I know BGD did an all matched fancy pink diamond wedding band once. From what I understand it was very costly. And that the sourcing of it took a considerably amount of time.

You can ask Diamond by Lauren. I think they will likely be your best bet.

Take a trip to solid gold and ask them to price out some 1-2 pointer pink argyles for you. Educate yourself on the colours before hand so you have a general idea of what to ask for.
I had some priced about a year ago and they were about $130 each for 6 or 7P (can't remember!). They were happy to sell them to me as well. There are plenty of jewelers in Perth who carry pink argyles so maybe ask around.

BGD asked me to source my own for a project as I would be able to get them cheaper since I'm in Perth. There's no point buying them online from OS when the product originates in your own back yard. ;))

I must have looked particularly wealthy when I was enquiring at Solid Gold about FIPs. I think I was shown a 4 point 4PP and they quoted me just at $2000! :o I managed to smile and back away, very slowly.

pinks are getting rarer so it may be the way it is???? hmm i wonder what i will get when i go there in a months time... its close to christmas ... maybe i will wait till the new year...

Pinks are getting pricier, I won't deny that. But Perth prices are outrageous - I've not found one single instance in which a Perth vendor has attempted to sell me a reasonably priced Argyle stone. Around 2 months after I received that "quote" from SG, I purchased a 13 point FIP from Leibish, for almost the exact same price as the 4 point was going for. :o

An example from this year, I had a browse through Linney's at Burswood on the night we went to see Wicked. The woman there was lovely, but spent a significant amount of time raving about the FANTASTIC BARGAIN they were offering on a particular 14 point FIPP. It was...$14,000. Yes, $1,000 per point. Leibish's stones retail for 1/3-1/2 of that. Perth retailers must count on uneducated buyers to keep their doors open.

Thank you so much for that. I will keep that in mind when I go to SG! No flies on me, MATE!!!!

Kenny- this is an awesome find/share. My hope is to find an orange color key stone and then to add colorless pave on a halo (if I can figure out the proportions for a 0.85-1.00ct keystone) and the shank. I had never seen pave close to orange color and was thinking of orange for an eternity band. DBL also said he could find orange pave. Thanks!

Although 3 years have passed i have also recently been looking online for Pink diamonds melees and saw all your posts here in PS. Still hard to find online however, i saw 2-3 vendors with pink;

http://www.apertrading.com/fancypink.html
http://www.africagems.com/calibrated-pink-diamond-melee.html
http://www.fancycolor.com/Melees

Langerman really had the greatest choice! Thanks for the tip!!
However they are priced by piece and not by carats which can make it quite expensive if you need more.

I found another vendor, although had no pinks, still had some melees at great prices.

If anyone is still reading this after 3 years, it might still be of help.

Karen.
