Hi, I''m actually thinking of making an ebay purchase (eeek)...

But here''s what I''ve found...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=013&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=230043744206&rd=1&rd=1

I''ve emailed the guy, and talked with his jeweler. The story is the guy selling it has a new wife who''s not crazy about jewlery, so he''s selling the small stuff he''d collected (or something like this). The guy selling it said he''d meet me half way to show me the diamond and said I''d be thrilled.. The jeweler said the price he was selling for was fair, and said it was a pretty little eye clean stone (it''s got a gia cert)...

Do you think the price is fair?

he''s sent me some other pictures, it looks the same pink, I understand very light pink would be VERY LIGHT but maybe some rose gold, and have it set with some whiter stones, it may look pinker..

I need some help quick...

Thanks so much...

This would be about J-L colored on the colorless diamond scale at my best guess.

I think 1 in 1000 people would notice it was pink, and 90 would ask what was wrong with it - have you tried cleaning it?

Argyles scale is on my www.preciousmetals.com.au website (my best digital guess)

This would not have been sold by Argyle as a fancy color - it prbably oes not make it to even 8P

It looks like one of those fancy colored diamonds where you have to look at the cert to see the color.

Thanks guys, I knew you would help...

I''m going to pass...

What would be the lightest color pink, that actually would look pink (if I bought it online?)

One more question.... if I did make a offer to him, what would be a fair price for this stone....

He wants me to see it in person, rather than just try and pass it off to me on ebay... he''s willing to meet me half way to see it, and he said I''ll love it...

he said that it''s definatley a faint pink...

I''m now mixed in feelings....

Can you help me offer a fair price for it????

take some acetone and meths to wash the stone to remove the pink ink

Dont do it baby!!!

Have him send the stone to one of the appraisers under the resources at the top right

Garry, you crack me up!

The recommendation to have him send it to one of the appraisers is a really good one. They should be able to pick up if the stone has been altered for color, etc.

what would be a fair price for say an H stone that shape/size? Worst case it can''t be worse than that, right??? I''d see it in person - why not? not everything has to be super-saturated. I think light pink could be totall lovely as long as you''re paying or what you get and not extra!

That is too bad, I actually like the color of the stone (just me though)....It is "baby pink". I also think rose gold and perhaps pink diamonds around it would make it look more pink.

I do think the price is a tad much...and you would have to add money to enhance the color of the stone by changing the setting...
