Why am I not getting sparkle and pop in te photos I am taking of my wifes earrings? Is there a technique to getting the sparkle? Her earrings just don't look as stellar photographed. Also I have these blue diamonds that look just awful through the photos I took today. Hints, tricks, techniques would be very helpful. Bottom line, through my eyes, sparkle and lots of pop, through the lense, they look like nothing more than dull glass

In addition to your regular lighting, whatever that is, a small pointed light source (like an LED flashlight) pointed right at the diamonds may help add sparkle.

Even a bare exposed light bulb on the other side of the room may do it as long as the direct light can reach the diamonds, (is not blocked by your body or the camera).

I've had good luck with early morning sunlight coming in through the window and having it as back light behind my diamond or jewelry. Also try taking photos with and without flash, by the window without sun coming in directly, and trying different lighting around the house. The beauty of digital cameras is you can see right away what method is working to get your desired photos. Good luck.

Cuso, may I offer a suggestion?

I've been here almost 6 years and have been banned several times for various things.
I've learned (though some would disagree) how to fit into the PS community.

When you start a thread asking for help and people give their time helping you, thank them.

PS really is a great community and it's worth it to stay on people's good side.
