Experts at PS, help please! Thought I'd give IDJ a try based on the rave reviews here on PS. I have a pair of non-certified stones IDJ sent me. They are 1.2 cttw and measure 5.45mm and 5.43mm. The hearts and arrows are pretty clear- seems pretty symmetrical to me, but I'm not an expert :). Also, I don't know if it is because of the lighting, but there seem to be lot of white areas to me.

Here are pictures of diamond #1.

And these are pictures of diamond #2.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I guess it just depends on how picky you are. I personally wouldn't be able to handle the inclusions aside from the cut. They would have to be MUCH less expensive than GIA excellent stones for me to think they would be a good buy. But I would only buy GIA excellent (or AGS ideal) for myself.

As a matter of fact, I have seen several pairs of uncertified and even certified pairs of studs on the pre-loved forum here, and that might be another option for you.

The hearts and arrows are just patterning. They don't mean anything. You need to judge light return, and that means an idealscope.

I have no issue with the inclusions for earrings they don't look that eyevisible at all and the price on them is probably good.

If the light return checks out, I'd keep them. If it doesn't, I wouldn't.

I'm so sorry- I just realized I mixed up the images. I don't know how to go back to my original post to edit the images. They should line up as follows:

diamond #1 - img_1031, _1034, _1037
diamond #2 - img_1032, _1033, _1038

diamondseeker- Thanks for your reply! I don't mind the inclusions, but the cut is important to me. From the table view, I am not able to see the inclusions so I imagine any person standing at least two feet away should not be able to see any inclusions, either. Unfortunately, I can't tell if these are excellent cuts or great cuts worth buying. Would it be correct to assume that if you were presented with these you would pass? I have checked out the pre-loved forum but didn't see any in the 1.0 to 1.2 cttw range.

gypsy- Thanks for your input! I thought these were IS images? IDJ is not local to me so I cannot view these personally, however Luann says these sparkle very well. What should I ask IDJ for in order to confirm if these have great light return?

Ask them for idealscope images. :-)

 Okay, as I mentioned earlier, I'm confused about that comment. I thought at least four of the six images were idealscope images (based on the reddish/pinkish hues)?

No. They are hearts and arrows images captured through the hearts and arrows viewer.

Idealscope:

Arrows:

If nothing else you can tell by the color of the arrows. In the Idealscope the arrows will be black. In the Arrows the arrows will be white. One shows light return (idealscope) the other shows patterning (arrows).

Oh!!! Thank you so much for explaining the difference, Gypsy!
