After a very long time trying to narrow down the choice of diamond to replace my wife's wedding ring that she lost, there are two left. I am ordering this from Sweden, so I will not be able to return the diamond and must get this right on the first try...

JA wrote the following about the two diamonds "the gemologist found diamond 495242, the 1.21 ct ($6470) to be exceptionally stunning! This diamond faces up white with an excellent amount of sparkle and brightness. The overall brilliance and light performance is great and it has excellent cut proportions and transparency. It is an excellent recommendation and surely to wow you in person with its amazing fire!

Diamond 462830, the 1.18 ct ($6770) is also an excellent choice! This diamond also face up white with a very nice level of light performance especially in the perimeter. The table is slightly larger so it gives this diamond a spready appearance. The transparency is just slightly less than the first diamond, but the inclusions themselves are eye clean."

I am inclined to go with the recommendation of the gemologist, but to my ignorant eye, the ideal scope (hopefully I inserting them properly in this post) looked better on the second choice diamond. If it were you, which diamond would you choose and why (price is relevant, but not the most important factor)?

There are probably better diamonds elsewhere, but I have already wired money to JA for a diamond that I cancelled immediately after finding this forum and using the HCA tool (thanks pricescope and forum posters!). So it is one of these two or nothing

The first link corresponds with the diamond recommended first by JA.

If I have to vote....the first one I guess? I'm a bit partial to smaller tables though, so what you like might not be what I like. The second stone has better light return on the ideal scope, but without an ASET it's hard to tell where the light is being reflected from and if it will have the brilliance you want (this applies to both diamonds).

Yup, votes count;-) Thanks as well for your reasoning. In theory I think I like bigger tables, but I don't really know because nobody in Sweden (at least nobody I know) really has big diamonds like this...
Cheers!

I vote for #1. Even though it has areas of less intense light return under the table, I prefer it's idealscope. I think it will give nice colored flashes of fire with that crown and table. I like the nice dark arrows with the contrast leakage that the second stone lacks. I think it is cut with a higher degree of precision and likely has better optical symmetry. But if you prefer a stone that tends toward brightness and white light as opposed to fire, number 2 may be a better choice. Though I would have a hard time suggesting it when the gemologist said it is slightly less transparent. I do not think you will see a size difference between them. 0.1 mm would be very hard to perceive in my opinion.

I like the patterning of the 1.21 stone.

Looks like most of you prefer the 1.21 stone. Thanks for the comments- I think I will go with that one

Yep, I vote first one also...

First one is amazing. The second one I have some weird feeling about how the light return isn't as symmetrical as the first one. Good luck!

I vote for the first.

#1 rock looks good.

I vote for diamond #2. Bigger face up size, and a whiter diamond. I know both are I's but the first diamond must be a lower I (shows more yellow body tint).

Second diamond faces up 2% larger. It's a just barely noticeable difference in size:

Great link, you saved me from getting the wrong ring size!

Tough choice, but I ended up buying diamond 1, thank you all for the input :appl: : http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.21-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-495242
