Fiance and I are surprising everyone at the rehearsal dinner with a slideshow of us. It'll start out with us in our parent's belly's and end with our engagement pics. We're stuck with song choices... The show will be 10 minutes or less. The only song I've thought of so far is "Brown Eyed Girl." Please help us pick music!! I'm thinking older, more classic songs.

ok, this is totally tacky, but we put it into my parents'' 45th wedding anniversary video, and everytime i hear the song i cry anyway--
barbra streisand''s the way we were-"memories....like the corner of my mind..misty water colored memories..."

Oooh, this is totally something I would love to help you with (big ol'' music freak here...)

It would help me to work backwards...what pictures do you have...or, if you are "grouping" them, what groups (like...early 80s? Prom pictures? Pictures from when you were dating?)

From there, it''s kinda easier to put music in...

Let us know...I''d LOVE to help if I can!

Jas- some pics will just be of him and some will just be of me & some will be of us side by side - say each of our 1st b-days. of both of us fishing when we are five- so those will be split screen.

the first pics will seriously be of our pregnant mommies. then birth pics. then pics of us each growing up throw graduation. we are also including pics with our freinds that are in the wedding party. and pics of him & his brothers. then we''ll go into our together pics. we''ll include all 12 or so of him proposing on a gondola in vegas. then well end about 4 engagement pics. our last pic will be of us holding hands walking away from the camera.

we both were born in the very early 80''s. graduated late 90''s.

so, i guess we''d need some baby photo songs, some family songs, some friends songs & some love songs?

i''ve come up with these so far, though i''m not set on all of them.

"Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison
maybe for my baby pics?

"The Best is Yet to Come" by Frank Sinatra
couple pics?

"Forever Young" by Rod Stewart
his baby pics?

"Going to the Chapel" by Shirelles
end with this song? maybe just the main chorus line? for the shot of us walking away holding hands?

"With a Little Help From my Friends" by Joe Cocker or Beatles
friends pics?

"It Had to Be You" by Frank Sinatra
couple pics?

What about Oh How the Years Go By? Some parts might fit better than others but I think that it is a good tempo etc for a slideshow.

I was just in a wedding where they bride and groom used a slide show. It ran to "I Will Love You" by Fisher, which is just a gorgeous slow song. Honestly the combination of that song and the pictures made me tear up every time we previewed it (and we previewed it A LOT). It was so perfect!

But it sounds like you are looking for more upbeat songs.

What about something silly like Walking on Sunshine or When I''m 64?

I believe it is Amy Grant. The chorus is:

And oh how the years go by
And oh how the love brings tears to my eyes
All through the changes the soul never dies
We fight, we laugh, we cry
As the years go by

If you think you can stand it, "You are my Sunshine" is probably one of the most heartfelt songs I can think of...any version/any performer. Also, slightly cheesy but fun (IMO): "Can you tell me how to get..." the Sesame Street theme song (I know
20.gif
) but it came to mind for pre-school years photos...and may even draw some laughs from your audience, as well as tears, lol! Anything by Enya (think "Friends" for the high school/college years), Oh, that song from the Wonder Years theme...um...can''t think of it, of course...."need a little help from my friends" I think it was. Excellent choice for elementary school pics...
"At Last" by Etta James comes to mind for engagement pics near the end of your slide show...HTH!

I just heard this song last weekend at women''s retreat for my church. It is by christian artist Kim Hill. I thought it''d be perfect for something like this or a mother/son dance. Too bad I hadn''t heard it before my wedding.

UP TO THE MOON

I love you up to the moon
And I love you big as the sky
I love to watch you when you sleep
I love to hold you when you cry
One day when you''re older
And taller than me
I''ll say I watched you grow
Like a beautiful tree
I love you up to the moon
And I love you big as the sky
You''ll always be my little man
I love you the best that a mama can
And one day if you rise up
And call me blessed
I''ll say it was a joy
To give you my best
''Cause I love you up to the moon
I love you big as the sky
I love you up to the moon
I love you up to the moon

May I suggest Bryan Adams + Barbara Streisand " I Finally found someone''. It was taken from the movie, a mirror has two face, or some thing like that.

I finally found someone
Who knocks me off my feet
I finally found the one
Who makes me feel complete..

Or if you wanna go way older, perhaps The Beatles "Here, There & Everywhere"

To lead a better life I need my love to be here

Here..
Making each day of the year
Changing my life with the wave of her hand
Nobody can deny that there''s somethin'' there

And I also love Al Green ''Let''stay Together'' too...

I, I''m so in love with you
Whatever you want to do
Is all right with me
''Cause you make me feel so brand new
And I want to spend my life with you

Ok, honestly, these are all so awesome -- and I was going to suggest a lot of them! (*never mind* a la Emily Litella)

"Sunrise/Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof is a parental favorite.

"You''re Nobody ''Til Somebody Loves You" might be cute

"Amado Mio" by Pink Martini is an amazing schmoopie song

"Someday My Prince Will Come"

"Sentimental Journey"

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"
"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (I think it''s Roberta Flack)
"(I Would Walk) 500 Miles"
"I Call Your Name" (Mammas and Pappas)

These are off the top of my head...I love the Sesame Street theme song idea...more to come later
