Any one considering including their pets in some way?

I um (this is really stupid I know)... kinda want to have pics of my cats, FMIL''s cat (one in AV), and her dog at the wedding.

But well, we are going to have pics of John''s late father and grandfather... so I''m thinking it''s not really appropriate. You know, it would dimish the gesture if our living pets were featured with the honored dead.

So... anyone including their pets in some ways?

Oooh, me me! I am slightly obsessed with my dogs (they are my babies), so they will be attending as pug flower girls.

I have seen pictures of this really cute thing where you take several different pictures of your cats and use those as table numbers. So you put a number on the photograph print of the cat. That way, it is a funny, whimsical little table number display, and it is completely seperate from the memorial pictures you will have of loved ones elsewhere (presumably on a table display somewhere.) Does that make sense?

OH I LOVE IDEA!! I just took the CUTEST pics of Frodo! I could TOTALLY use them as table numbers. My grandma would complain for DAYS!! PERFECT.

And it would be completely separate from the pics of the deceased!

I love the pug flower girls!! So cute. I remember that they were part of your enagement shoot too!!

Here is one sample I found online. You could totally jazz them up to match your colors and linens :)

I''m so glad you like the idea! Yes, and getting grandmas and freinds to think you are crazy over your pets is alwasy a bonus. Our friends were like, you''re not really having the dogs in the wedding are you? Ummm...yes :)

FI wanted to get the hedgehogs to carry the rings up the aisle - I think we''d probably still be there a week later looking for them....

LOL!
WHen I first read this, I was like, how absurd. No, of course not. Get a grip. etc.

Then I realised I was being ridiculous, because when I glanced around the room I''m sitting in and spotted a couple of my wedding pics. One has the cat in it, the other had the dog in it. They weren''t in the wedding as such, but they are part of a lot of the pics!

The photographer took the obligatory getting ready shots, and my favourite was a shot of me putting makeup on while the cat watched me attentively, photograhped in the mirror, if you know what I mean. That one is pretty cool. One of my other favourites is DH and his best man putting cufflinks on, with my dog sitting at their feet looking like she could do it better. Cute!

I love the placecard idea too.

I wanted to go to the church on my horse, but common sense (and the practicalities of a big white dress) prevailed!

Do whatever makes you smile - it''s your day.

Wow those are great!!

Hehe. I could so see my dog and FI''s family''s dog on the cards!

OMG I was totally going to suggest the table numbers idea - I think that would be a hoot!

I''d imagine you could capture some pretty cute moments with trying to photograph your kitties with large printed table numbers. Do you think FMIL would do it with Noel if you sent her the pre-printed numbers?

Otherwise, you could just photoshop the numbers onto the pictures.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE those mrs polka dot!! lol at your friends thinking you wouldn''t include the babies! Silly! Grandma would have a fit. She keeps trying to get me to give them up (she''s NOT a pet person).

Mrs M-- it sounds silly at first right? But then you think about it and why not!

Amber... I love the thought of getting them to pose on pre-printed numbers. I don''t know if I could get Frodo to do it. As for Noel or Sheila? I would have to have one of John''s neices do it b/c FMIL would just think it''s silly and procrastinate until I was ready to blow a fuse. I do have decent pics of Noel and Sheila I could photoshop with though. That may be the solution.

Great ideas everyone!!

Anyone else pet crazy?

I''d love to do the table card idea, but Quizas isn''t very photogenic. She''s all black so you can''t see much of her except her pink tongue when she''s got it sticking out. But you guys who have super photogenic dogs you should totally do it. The alternative would be to get proper lighting? I''m by no means a photographer.

We put pictures of our cats up on our wedding website as "our family", but that was about it. I like the table numbers idea!

Gypsy - exactly! Why not? Go for it - it's a little thing in the overall scheme, but it will make you happy. Just imagine walking into your reception venue and seeing their little faces there to welcome you! Priceless. You've said before they are part of your family, so yeah, have them in your wedding!

Yes! We are way too attached to Georgia unfortunately.

She just has the most unique personality. She watches TV intently. Her favorite channel is animal planet, but she also loves horror movies. She also hunts bugs. Weird, right? But she does..she gets upset if she sees a bug and points to it. I think it's because I freaked at some point when she was a puppy over a bug and she learned the word "bug" means bad.

So she's a little neurotic, but we love her.

ETA: Georgia is my Bichon Frise. She's at home with my parents, so I miss her!

Pandora, put them in a little wagon and have someone pull them!

ETA: I loved how NEL included her gorgeous Newfie boy into her wedding day...

LOL

I''ve just realised that that could be worse. If he goes anywhere near her he becomes totally sex-crazed and starts making very loud high-pitched squealing noises at her!

I think the table numbers idea is great!

I bought our dogs tuxedos on ebay and i''m going to take a photo of them and use it for photo stamps for the STD''s.

Okay. That brought to mind the FUNNIEST images. I would have PAID YOU for the videographer if you were going to have them together in this case. (Would have made the money back selling the footage

if you agreed!).

That image is going to keep me smiling ALL DAY. Thank you Pandora!

Goldenstar.. you''ll post pics right? That sounds adorable.

Sarah-- how are you going to include Georgia? She sounds like a sweetheart!

lliang-- Sheila is a black dog. Hard as the dickens to photograph. I have one pic of her that''s nice. But she''s laying on the floor with FMIL''s nasty old carpet (we bought her new carpet for a present one year). I was thinking of photoshoping the pic to sepia but realized it wouldn''t work with the black dog this. Totally sympathize. Still, if you just manage to get ONE nice pic, you could include her pic in your guest book maybe with a paw print stamp on the first page? I think we are going to include our pets pics and names in the guest book as the first guests. Again, anything to get a rise outa grandma!

On Saturday she tried to get me to get rid of the cats again.

I''m feeling a little vindictive.

Surfgirl... I LOVE NEL''s Newfie

Sumbride... I''m going to add thier pics in the website! Great idea!

MrsM... When I read your post about imaging their faces at the reception it totally cemented it for me! I can just see it, and I love it!

Our first priority was that our dog was involved. Our second priority was that every guest could bring their dog if they wished. The main reason we chose our venue was because it was dog-friendly. I even hand made Byron''s leash out of dark red satin.

So yes, our dog was a BIG part of the day (including eating a chunk of the cake--how fitting that he''d get the first bite) and our dog had a great time playing in the ocean with our guests'' dogs for a few days!

NEL, I so very much *heart* Byron...If you ever need a dog sitter...

awww, surfgirl, I would take you up on that ANYTIME! And I will rocksit your gorgeous ring :)

Girl, I''d take you up on that any time! I seriously love your dog. But I think I''d be getting the better end of that deal. My precious only sits there blinking at you while your Byron can run, jump, roll over, drool...Your precious does a lot more than mine...

i''d love to include the pugadillo somehow, but our venue doesn''t allow pets. oh well!!

i saw the most adorable dog tribute on a website last week. scroll about half-way through the pictures and you will see the tribute to their recently deceased dog. gave me a bit of a tear.
