I will keep all of my psychosis to this one thread, as not to clog up the boards, until the final product!

I am debating again between Leon and Tacori. I was pretty much settled on the Tacori, but felt like taking 1 more stab at Leon before I made a final decision. After about ten days, and no response to my e-mail, I decided to just call him. He was wonderful on the phone, and very polite even though he clearly hated the design I sent him (photoshop mock up of Tacori design).

So I decided if I could come up with any design, what would it be?

Before I contact Leon again, I thought I would get all ideas out there and see what sticks. Depending on what he says (and his price of course) I still may go with the Tacori.

His main objection to the design was the use of step cuts with the radiant. Now I loved the step cuts, but now I feel a little tainted against them. He does have alot more experience with this than I do.


What do you think? Step cuts with radiant a no-no?

SLG- yes, I think I will keep my stone. All of the yellows I looked at were not worth it. Huge- but dissappointing. I will not be back in the states for awile, so continuing the search would take too long : ( . Higher carat weight white radiants didn't give me enough size difference for the $. A big jump in ct weight in my budget were usually deep stones, so not that much bigger.

The halos I like are on the larger side, so it should cure my size problem I feel safe with my stone, because at least I know it is pretty and sparkly, I saw alot of scary duds.

So below is the yellow diamond ring that turned me onto yellow diamonds and forever turned me into a size wh*re (on pinky). Too bad it is $5000 over budget

Next to it is one of the many ugly yellow diamonds I saw.

I thought about doing the opposite of the yellow ring, with a white and pink double halo.

Any thoughts on that?

I am not loving the steps in the halo, I agree with Leon. Other than the purely esthetic objection, I don't think it will give you the boost is apparent diamond size that you seem to want. I think that is best accomplished with a halo if very small rbs, like Leon's typical halos. In hact, I think the double halo with white on the inner ring and then yellow or pink on the outer halo will give the largest illusion of size of them all! So that is my vote. And Leon's pave work is what he is best at so I wouls go with that.

I wish I had better photos of the yellow ring. It has tiny yellow pave on the basket, it is amazing. They should just let me take it off of their hands, its been sitting in the store for over 6 mos already. Sheesh! I got her down $3000 already, need $5000 more off. Anyone have any good negotiation skills?

Wish I could help. I'm loving the eye candy and am so excited for you. I am tempted to say get the original yellow pinky ring. But I get that it's over budget.

I hope this won't come off as crass, but I could lend you $5k at 5% interest a year, if you'd let me wear it for say 3-4 months a year, until you're able to pay me back the money plus interest.

LOL! That is not a very good deal I am sure she can get a loan from the bank if she wanted debt to buy it, and then she could wear it all year.

it doesn't necessarily have to be that particular yellow? I know you won't be in the states for a while...but there are more yellow diamonds out there without ugly faces in them (right?) Perhaps ask Leon if he can source you one?

OK, so can you tell me a bank that would offer a loan at that rate, that is UNsecured, without knowing anything about the person's credit history? That last bit is not supposed to be personal to the OP, since I don't know her IRL.

I would love to have it at $5000 or so (plus my trade in) but at $10 k nah... I will be happy with what I have. It is just not something I feel comfortable spending.

SLG- I wish I could do that, but as far as the trading to yellow, I am stuck with my B&M store where I purchased my stone.
I was not a sophisticated PS'r in those days.

Ah man, I'm going to go check the yellow pages again!! ( yellow diamond listings ) LOL. Problem is, I wouldn't be able to afford a spectacular seeting like that, it would have to be rather simple.

I am going to comment on the Tacori setting you like. I just feel that it stands out as more contemporary to me than any of the other inspiration styles you have shown us. The rest are more graceful and delicate, and the Tacori gives me an impression of crushed ice. I think you should get a custom piece, and not try to re-create the Tacori - just take what appeals to you about it and come up with something unique Or, if the Tacori is everything you are looking for go for it! It just seems you have a more subtle style based on your other inspirations...
