pendant design suggestions please

I am waiting for my 10 year ering upgrade to be completed.. in the mean time I am looking for pendant designs for my original ering stone. DH suggested trading it but I can't bear the thought of parting with it given its sentimental value. I found this cute little pendant and thought it would be appropriate since DH calls me rosy posy - cheesy I know. I also wanted to incorporate my 2 boys' birth stones (for January and August) and thought I would use peridot for the leaf design but am stumped as to how to incorporate garnet in this design. Any suggestions? I've attached a pic of my original (and filthy) ering and the pendant.

I know this is going to sound kind of cheesy, but how about using tiny garnets as the petals around the diamond?

Being that the design is fairly stylized ... are you sure both smaller stone settings are "leaves?" Perhaps one is a bud and one is a leaf.

Alternately, perhaps keeping the design all diamond, but having "surprise" gems burnished into the back might work?

Congratulations on your 10-year anniversary - and your upgade! I think it's really sweet that you want to keep your original diamond and also incorporate something for your sons into your new pendant.

I can think of two ideas that would also incorporate garnets, but possibly neither will be suitable either for the design or your taste. Both include using your idea of using peridots for the leaves. The first variation would be to use garnets set all along the stem below the diamond. The second idea would be to use garnets in a halo around the diamond, which would involve changing the design a little, but would also (to me) enhance the flower idea.

ETA: I'd use some markers or colored pencils to draw out some ideas - in color. It makes such a difference when you see things in color. Personally, I like the idea of the diamond alone, and surprise stones for your boys on the back instead.

Have you seen MakingTheGrade's pendant? I'm sure he could get all 3 stone colors in there and its lovely flowers.

Now we're talking!! thanks for the ideas ladies.. I never thought about the garnet around the diamond or the stem, which may work. I did think about putting the surprise gems in the back but wasn't sure if that was feasible given the thin stem.. I'll definitely look into it. Thank you tyty for the link. I actually admired MakingTheGrade's pendant and thought it was quite unique.

Well.. I definitely have a ton of ideas to work with.. thank you so much. Will definitely post once it's finished. PS I just received confirmation from BGD that they received my bank wire so I'll hopefully get the diamond in the next two days (factoring in customs holding it for a day or two).. YAY!!!
