My grandmother gave me this old pendant close to 20 years ago. It is tarnished and the center stone (garnet?) has fallen out. I know nothing about it. I don’t know if it is silver, diamonds, garnet? Or cheap costume jewelry with fake stones. The metal had worn through from behind the center stone right though to the back. Can anyone shed light on it for me?

I truly don’t care if it is just costume jewelry as I keep it for sentimental value but I would love to know more about it just for fun.

    its really pretty
any jewler will be able to tell you if its real stones but if they arn't that's ok
are there any marks stamped into in anywhere?
i wish i had kept my great Aunt's custume jewlery we used to play with as kids, because no one wanted it
the vintage stuff can be really good quality
there are places online who specialise in restoring costume pieces and will be able to fix the tarnish and give it a really good clean
and then you can wear it

I'm sorry to say, but it is costume jewelry.
The clear stones are glued in, and the cup has a mirrored back to enhance the red stone.
I would re-glue the center stone (use just a teeny dab!} back in there and wear it as a memento of your grandmother.

I’m not disappointed in that and it is what I suspected. Just wanted confirmation.
