Pearls in "The favourite" movie...

I watched this last night, wasn't hugely impressed personally (way to much gratuitous use of the horrid word C*NT!) but lots of lovely pearl necklaces to ogle over! Rachel Weiz's character wears a killer strand of Tahitians

Were Tahitians about back then? Over here? Is that an anachronism?

Also in movies..cringed at Mamma Mia 2 when in the historical sailing bit they dive for a mollusc, bring it to surface and open it and there in the empty half shell is a shiny perfectly round large white sea pearl Arghhhh. Whoever wrote it has been watching pearl opening parties on facebook

The JCK article linked above shows fireball pearls, which didn't exist.

I don't mind when films are not historically accurate. It doesn't claim to be a documentary.
