Hi All,

Last time i posted asking your opinions on what to get on a 2-3k budget (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/what-would-you-get-on-a-2-3k-budget.200237/) and I think I want to get a pendant or a RHR. I found this pear stone on Jewels by Erica last night and I think it would look pretty in a rose gold bezel set RHR or pendant. What do you guys think of the stone? Also where do you think I should go for a simple rose gold bezel setting?

Hi Bibi,

I think that's a very pretty pear for the money and it would make a lovely pendant. I can see evidence of a bow tie in the images but it's not too noticeable as far as I can tell, you can't totally get away from them in these shapes. I cannot see anything of concern in the report, the very thick notation of the girdle variation needn't be a cause for concern as it might only be in a small area or on the vulnerable tip. J colour could show some warmth especially at the tips but if you are ok with this, no problem and that it has faint fluorescence might be a nice feature. I think it could look beautiful in a rose gold pendant or RHR, I don't know of any vendors that sell these settings separately but Erica might be able to advise.

Hi Lorelei,

Thanks for the opinion. I haven't seen a pear in real life so I'm not sure how i will like the bow tie. I've always wanted a chubby pear though. I don't think I would mind the J color. My engagement ring is G color and it looks plenty white for me. Do you have suggestion for another pear stone I should look at? I know my budget is limited and I wouldn't mind a smaller stone.

Hi bibiloves. :wavey:

My advice is to try to see some pears in real life. I have a G-color pear. In some lighting conditions, I can see a little color at the tip. Not bad - I'm just color sensitive. I think it may be the cut.

Rose gold sounds pretty!

Check out James Allen. They appear to have several pears in your price range!

Hi Bibi,

You are most welcome, looks like Starry has had a hunt around already for you, ( she is good with pears and has some beauties!) and I will also have a look to see what we can find. Bow ties can be more prominent depending on the angle you are viewing in, also as you are aware, some show more of a bow tie than others. I don't think you can get away from them entirely, but you can minimize them with careful searching and preferably vendor opinion that can view the stone in person. I will return when I have checked to see what's out there. :wavey:

Here are some selections assuming you have a 2-3k budget.

This stone has potential, you would need to check there is no potential durability issue with the ex thin part of the girdle by asking James Allen if interested, it isn't always the case if the ex thin part measures only in the microns or is in a small non vulnerable area, but do check. Make sure it's eye clean to your standards also again by asking the vendor.

The diamond below has more of a distinct bow tie, but it has possibilities.

If interested in any of the above, the next step would be to request an ASET image from James Allen plus ask one of the gemologists to discuss the stone in question with you. I hope this helps!
