Hi All,

I've been looking at pears for an engagement ring and based on my reading there is no such thing as an "ideal" cut pear so one really needs to understand what to look for to identify a good stone. Unfortunately, I don't have a trained eye so I've organized my search on certain measurements that would suggest a good stone based on various websites and then I've picked out the one that looks the best to my eye. This is the stone I like the best so far.

After chatting with James Allen they also recommended these:

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/pear-shaped/1.01-carat-e-color-vs2-clarity-sku-2112959

I've requested an ASET image for the stone I like, but am unsure what to look for and will base my interpretation on the guide here:

Obviously, my goal is to get the stone with the most brilliance. When I'm out in public, I've noticed some girls have very brilliant rings and others are quite dull so I'd like to avoid anything that will look dull. Is an ASET image the best tool to measure this? I'm more than happy to pay a little extra to get max brilliance from the stone.

Lastly, I've read enchanted diamonds is a reputable online dealer and they have ASET images on their website. Does anyone use this site or should I stick with James Allen?

Thanks for any insights.

Well, pears aren't known for the best light return, so their ASETs are not going to compare to a well cut round or any shape cut to ideal proportions. That said, if pear is the choice of the recipient, you are correct in trying to find one of the better pears. I like the one you chose better than the ones JA selected because your length ratio is better at 1.56. Those others are longer and skinner which I personally do not like as well. I also like the 59 table.

So just come back when you get the ASET image. Is this going in a halo or solitaire setting? I'd just be sure if it is going in a solitaire that you get a pear head with the V for the pointed end.

I like the one you choose and the 1.01E. Can you get an aset on that one also?

I have always loved pear shaped stones, regardless of whether they are diamonds or another type of stone. For me, James Allen has the most gorgeous diamonds available. A pear shaped diamond from this company will definitely win a lady's heart.
