hope the image comes up, not sure how to attach it?!?!
i know not to expect a lot of red in a pear ASET but that's about all i know, it's the perfect diamond for me on paper (.70ct F VS2) it's the shape i want and in budget but i don't know how to read ASETs??? also worryingly i was sent 2 different inspections, one about a month ago which said it had no distinct bow tie however this section as with most pears was slightly darker than the point, then yesterday i was told by the second that it had a noticeable dark bow tie that spreads across the diamond??? Any insight into the ASET will be SO SO SO SO helpful!!! Thank you in advance.

Can you provide us a link to the diamond or do you have any pictures of it?

Yeh, pear asets aren't usually too pretty.

That ASET image doesn't seem to indicate that the diamond itself would have a bow-tie. I would expect to see lots of blue in the ASET for a bow-tie. Let's put it this way, I have two pears that don't have bow ties and their ASETs also have very little blue. See if they can give you a picture of the pear.

That photo doesn't show any indication of a bow tie. In dim diffused lighting , it'll probably look like the photo: bright center, dark tips. In direct sunlight, the opposite: dark center, bright tips. In most lighting, it'll probably be evenly bright.

Thanks whatmeworry, it's just i'm picking the diamond for my er, so i really want to be sure about this! So hard to judge from the pictures james allen supply, i know it's supposed to be showing the imperfections but i wish they'd supply a second pic in natural lighting and at a smaller magnification to see how it sparkles! Any advice on whether it's a good choice would be great, thanks again.

Doesnt appear to have a noticable bow-tie to me either. Appears to be very white/bright in the area you would normally see a
bow-tie.

so do you think it'd be a good purchase???? Would it sparkle alot??? I'd love one that would flash firey sparkles all over!

Pears wont give you the fire compared to a well cut round. But if you are asking will it sparkle a lot for
a pear...it will probably be decent (since it doesnt have a bow-tie). Other than having a video I cant really
tell you much. You could have it sent to an appraiser and have it looked at first or have it sent to you
so you can look at it before it's set. With a fancy shape like this I think it is worth it.

The ASET looks good for a pear

The regular picture looks like I would expect from the ASET, the JA photo setup has little light coming from the green zone in ASET and the green areas in ASET will show up as dingy gray under it which is what they do.
If your unsure having it sent to you unmounted then returning it for setting might be a good idea.
Or you can have it sent to an appraiser for an evaluation.

I had the same worries with my pear. If you search my posts you can view my pear ASET and also in my posts the finished result. My ASET was similar to yours. Not a lot of blue and lots of green with some red. I have no real bow-tie except in a few angles which is minimal and my pear SPARKLES. To me this ASET looks like mine so I would go ahead with it or view it unmounted which is what I did.

I think it's a fine choice. Good luck with your, er.

The problem is i live in Ireland so i can't see it in person. Not sure how i would go about finding an appraiser to view it? I do feel reassured from all your comments, thanks everyone! I love pears and wouldn't consider any other type but they are really expensive here, found an ideal one in a local jewellers (.64ct, G, SI1 - eye clean, platinum pave band) it sparkled like mad but is just shy of $7000! Insane or what!? I would be getting it loose as the bf only has enough saved so far for the diamond, hopefully engaged sometime before or during the summer??? I'd hate to miss out on or let go of the perfect pear so don't know if i'm being a bit hasty with this one! Pears in my range seem to be rare enough though!? Big discussion with the bf is in order i think :) Thanks again everyone, ye've been really helpful!

looks great! Enjoy it :appl:
