So tonight we're under a Tropical Storm Watch because 19 is coming across south FL...its like exploded. Even worse for those on Bermuda. Also entire east coast of the US needs to be careful as rip currents are going to be something else over the next week.

Maybe I should drink?

HI:

@Arcadian: I am concerned for you and your DH. I hope you are/can remain safe and well.

safe vibes across the miles--Sharon

Geez, I don't know how you do it @Arcadian, living in an area that comes under frequent threat of natural disaster. I had a taste of that this week for the first time and I'll be jittery for a long time. We'll anxiously await updates from you. I hope you are able to stay safe.

@Matata I've lived pretty much all over the US and there's not one place that you can go where weather doesn't hit the fan. I think some places can be worse than others.

But its peak week and also 2020 which has been quite the MFer...lol

There have been a lot of very odd and particularly ferocious weather phenomenon this year.

This hurricane season is just extra. Its giving all kinds of 2020-ness, Its been BOGO storms just about all season.

Basically though Paulette will probably get Bermuda. Its unfortunate but thats pretty much gonna happen, its just now a matter of where the wobbles will be as it passes. Rene however will die a sacrificial death (we're hoping!) because it will either get sheared by the high pressure or get crushed by it. And the red X off Africa should follow Rene's leftover hole if high pressure doesn't build in. If it does, we'll have something to handle as it continues to move west but thats still about 10 days out. Plenty of time. The yellow x may or may not actually be anything, but even if it did it would have a lot of cooler water to run over meaning, might not develop at all.
19 and the yellow x: 19 has potential to turn into something but not sure what. Weak steering currents once it hits the gulf which is never good. the yellow x is weak for development. All storms in the gulf have to go over cooler water that was churned up by Laura (its relative to its coolness as we're still talking 85F water!

This week though was some kind of record. Its never been this many storms in the basin at once. I think our planet is fighting back.

Stay safe @Arcadian - prayers to you. Take Care. Q:wavey:

Sending good and safe thoughts to you! And may I just add - your knowledge, understanding, and analyses of these storms and the meteorology around them is seriously impressive.

Gosh, wonder why "God" and "prayers" don't work.
Hmmmmm.
This is a tough one.

Adding my good thoughts to all affected. @Arcadian stay safe and hoping for calm and quiet by you as soon as possible.

Sending fair-weather wishes your way @Arcadian !! Stay safe!

I cut my teeth on midwest weather (I was born/raised in Kansas City) My granddad talk me how to read clouds in those days. There wasn't the type of modeling out there that you see now (always a blessing) I also love tropical tidbits, its a fantastic site for those who are interested about the weather. Dr Cowan explains lots of the harder to understand phenomenon very well (some of its still kinda high level though)

TD19 is probably getting named probably today. We're getting rain squalls and gusty wind which will be our day today. South of here in Miami and and over near Marco Island are getting it worse. The worry is the rain as this storm is moving very slow (8mph) so Gulf side of FL is what will get beat to hell with the flooding.

If the models are right, it could go over some of the same areas that Paulette but at a slower pace, which means way more rain.....and those people have had to deal with enough (parts of Louisiana still without power!!)

BTW, the worst that could happen here, we might lose power and have some flash flooding. Such is the life here...lol I don't anticipate much except that for the 2nd weekend in a row I haven't mowed my lawn (it looks terrible!)

pretty *******y of you @kenny but people vary.

Yes indeed, people do vary.
Some only believe what there is evidence for.
Others, lacking evidence, have to use the term faith, that pretty word for pretending.

Why can people post, I'll pray for you, or god bless you, or I'm so blessed, but pointing out there's no evidence for gods is bad?
Not fair.

Faith is the excuse people give for believing things for which there is insufficient evidence, astrology, myths, superstitions, magic, gods, etc.
When evidence for X is sufficient people present it for their believes, instead of resorting to faith.

I don't know about you but I want to believe as many true things as possible and as few false things as possible.
... and how does one know what's true?
Answer: evidence, not make believe, not wishful thinking, or made up stuff, not childhood indoctrination/programming.

Who hurt you? Because obviously you have an issue with blessings or good will to others that do not have anything to do with you.

You have an issue with people who wish good on others in their own way.

That my friend is gatekeeping, narcissistic, and chapter 7 moral bankruptcy.

Let me stress this for you; I am not religious. I have my own belief system and I worship at the church of Arcadian. But I, do not have the right to cockblock a blessing or good will meant for someone else. Neither do you.

11AM advisory  We're gusty and squally where I am but as you can see, the bulk of the storm is nowhere near east SoFL currently. But man o man...this sucks so bad I'm hoping like hell there's no strengthening but the models are concurrent that it will.

And I might have called Hurricane Laura Paulette earlier (my apologies, its a lot of them out there!)

Paulette will be a Cat2 at least by the forecast discussion and looks to be a pretty dead on hit for Bermuda by Monday. I do know that hurricane hunters are doing recon missions to get more in depth info on 19 and might be likely for Paulette. For anyone interested in that data go here https://www.tropicaltidbits.com/recon/

Its a great island full of some pretty amazing people, my prayers to them that damage on the island will be minimal.

Renee is down to a depression, so isn't expected to last much longer.

God ? Are you listening ?

Religious and political discussion is banned per PS rules. Giving you a heads up so you don't repeat the error and possibly get reported to the mods by those who have made it clear they are absolute sticklers for the rules (It won't be me).

For those of you who will get upset about my response, think about what the owner & mod have said. Stick to the rules or risk sanction. Imo the rules have to be equally suppressive and oppressive to all and I've accepted that and so should you. @Arcadian, this is not directed at you personally.

To mititate further going down a weird rabbit hole, I've asked for this thread to be closed. I started my discussion about weather, it should stay about weather. when I start another thread about weather, stick to weather.
