I need a microphone for my PC - mostly to record myself talk for when I need to presentations, etc. I need it to be fairly comfortable, too.

Anybody have one they use they can recommend?

anyone?

I don''t do PCs, but highly recommend Belkin''s little microphone attachment for iPods. It gets rid of all background noise and then the interview is in an easy to edit and use format. So, not really answering your question, but it might be helpful to you as in computer mics are notorious for not filtering out surrounding noise. The mic was around $40 and worth every penny to me in conducting interviews/recording thoughts when on the road.

Thanks swimmer and strmrdr!

I think all I "think" I need is a mic - but a headset has its advantages...some of the reviews say it''s very heavy, though - would you agree with that?

Hmmm, I''m now confused about what you use it for. If you are trying to record yourself for presentations (like I create presentations that are online where you hear my voice corresponding to slides), or are you needing amplification and recording while speaking to a large in-person group? I have found the headsets to be cumbersome/headache inducing, but that was a few years ago, so things might have gotten smaller since then. That is why I just record to ipod and then dump the audio on my laptop. Sorry I wasn''t more clear earlier.

to me it isn''t heavy.
Its about 1/10 the weight of my old studio headset.

swimmer - I''m probably not explaining it clearly because I myself aren''t sure all the things I might use it for...

For now, mostly to hear how I sound when I am giving a workshop and for preparing the workshop so I could hear the flow, etc. Mostly, I would be sitting in front of the PC and just talking and recording it so I can then play it back. If there was some way I could also walk around while talking that might be nice too (guess mic would have to be wireless?)

I might also want to take some of these recordings and put them on my website - not sure. But it does have to be comfortable, so it sounds that at least in your experience headseats can be cumbersome.

Let me know if that''s clearer...

strmrdr - OK, thanks...
