I started a thread last month about a pawn shop ring I was delighted to find:

I wasn't quite sure what I had, but I was quite pleased with it.
I have jeweler in town who is primarily a repair shop. He has two chairs, a counter, and his bench. And I love him. So, I brought the ring in to him and had it set into a Stuller bezel and bead set 14K rose gold pendant. We did an 18 inch chain with a loop back at 17 inches. He estimates the cw at .40... and he did ID it as a "european cut" diamond, but left it at that. It is my first rose gold piece--really beautiful sheen to it.
My husband gave me a loose Barry Bridgestock spessartite garnet for Christmas. I had the jeweler remove the illusion plate (not sure of the correct lingo here) and set the garnet in the setting. It is my first quality CS, and I am thrilled with it! Pictures to follow...
