Pave Diamond Quality

Hello to all and good day!

Calling for advice from those in the know.

I am on a mission to reset my current engagement ring. Its currently an oval diamond on a solitaire band with an invisible halo. Im thinking of dressing this up a little in a Jean Dousset inspired ring, basically lots and lots of pave diamonds on the band.

Living in Dubai, I have a lot of access to many diamond stores who are happy to create this vision for me, but im stuck.

Im told they use F-G coloured diamods with an S1 clarity only.
They tell me using whiter stones or stones that have better clarity, will make no difference to the finished piece as these pave diamonds are so small noone would be able to tell.

Is this true?
Its hard to believe say E coloured pave wont show up whiter...and better clarity on such little diamonds might make them sparklier? Am i being silly ? Or are they?

F-G is still pretty white?
What colour is your existing stone?

The only concern I would have is the color of the pave relative to the current center stone.

I’d worry about poor clarity tbh before worrying about F-G colour. If the clarity is such that they don’t even sparkle, they’ll look like little white blobs around your centre stone.

Small melee look whiter in Color than an equal colored larger stone.

If you have a trusted vendor, just ask that they avoid any stones with visible black carbon. You should be able to request VS melee, but it may be harder.

But, if you are looking to have a ring made with lots of pave, the workmanship is far more important. Not everyone can set tiny stones or set them well. Have a read in this thread (just one of many) where the design and execution of a halo was disappointing. If the jeweller work from CAD, you can post that here for input.

Thankyou for the responses. By visible black carbon do you mean eye visible or only with magnification?
They tend to be Si2 or Si1 and i do know with that little loupe quite a few can be seen.
