pave briolette?

When I was in Florida I saw a pair of earrings (I think fakes) that were teardrop shaped briolettes but covered in melee diamonds and I thought the execution was very poor but the idea was good - and I started thinking that if the metal work was nicer, maybe a bit of filigree and maybe not pave exactly but just done with melee diamonds - I'm not exactly sure of the details, but has anyone seen anything like this or have a picture of it? I have done google searches but found nothing like that and it doesn't seem all that unique so I'm not sure why.
