Quest is making me a platinum solitare engagement ring. No pave, no diamond sidestones, nada. Just platinum and my stone (princess cut)

But I started thinking that some pave on the "bar" (for lack of a better word) on the basket head (but not the prongs) would add a nice touch.

I would have to call Quest tomorrow to add this and even then it might be too late. I want to just go for it but I''m really worried it would disrupt the fluid lines of the solitare that they are doing. I trust Pete and Huan and if they say no, I''ll believe them. But I would love opinions please!

I think this would be a lovely way to jazz up a solitaire setting. Someone here... not sure who, has a emerald cut with a solitaire basket with pave on the horizontal bar. Anyone know who this is? I might have a pic of her setting, just a minute.

found it, but I still don''t know whose ring it is.

that''s dani''s ring but she''s considering changing it b/c a wedding band won''t sit flush. february, did you think about your wedding band?

Hi February-

Yes that is my ec solitaire kcourselle posted. I love it, but I am probably going to change it out in a few months. The way the basket sits (very low), it does not allow a w-band to sit flush. Originally, I thought that wouldn''t bother me, but eventually it did. I am probably going to reset my stone into the Ritani Endless love mouting, which still will have the pave around the basket, but with the added pave band, which is a nice touch.

I really love my original settting, but it is too low, and I just felt nothing looked good wedding band wise with it. It came down to either switching it to my right hand or resetting it. And since I wanted to wear my rings as a set....

My advice to you if you want to go with a solitaire setting with a pave basket is to really make sure that you tell your jeweler that you want it to be able to sit flush with a w-band (if that is what you want). It is a really beautiful type of setting that you wont see a lot of people wearing, which is really nice.

I have attached a couple of more pics for you!

Dani-

Your ring is stunning!

My stone isn''t as large as yours (1.06 princess) and my basket won''t come out as far as yours does (I think). I thought I would mind if my ring didn''t sit flush but after trying a solitare basket setting on, it didn''t bother me after all. If anything, it made the diamond pop MORE having a bit of space between the rings. Do you mind if I save a picture of your ring to show Quest?

Thanks!!

Thank you KCoursolle!!

That''s pretty much what I had in mind, but single prongs and my basket doesn''t come out as far.

Do you mean like this?

I think a few little surprise stones would be nice, very special.

Scintillating...

I love this idea, it''s like a surprise stone! A little hidden something. I think it''s great, go for it!

Oh I love the idea. Diamonds around the basket gives it such a beautiful touch.

Can you give Quest your platinum 2mm band & your diamond band so they can make whatever it is sit flush? I fear you will be unhappy down the road if your bands don''t line up.

And, yes, I think some small sparklies on the basket would be divine. I mean, if you are gonna reset your ring, reset your ring chica!!
