Parents dance songs?

Zoe''s thread made FI and I sit down and find the last few songs we needed... all is well except for the pesky Mother/son father/daughter song,

We don''t want super mushy, I cry over EVERYTHING anyway. We both like the Somewhere over the rainbow/Wonderful world mix by IZ, but it is toooo long at 5:00 min.
We could do the Louis Armstrong Wonderful world song since it is one of my favorites, but maybe some of you have ideas we haven''t thought of yet?

i'm super mushy too, but my dad is insisting on "my wish" by rascal flats (the wish maybe?), which is a perfectly fitting song for the dance i think. i wanted to use "raindrops keep falling on my head" to keep the sap factor low, but we might use it for the mother/son dance. it's pretty upbeat, so the dance would be a little bit quicker than a typical slow dance. i hope you find something you like!

My dad and I danced to "She" by Elvis Costello. It''s the song from Notting Hill. He liked it because it was a waltz. I liked it because it was true... my mom cracked up about the part that says "She can be a heaven or a hell" and "a beauty or a beast" because my dad and I had ONE argument during the wedding planning (when he ATE my CAKE SAMPLE!) but the song still brings a tear to my eye.

DH and MIL danced to Armstrong''s version of "What a Wonderful World". She''d originally picked a song that had questionable lyrics, so we decided to pick the song for her.

What a wonderful worls is the perfect song! DH danced that one with his mom.
I danced a traditional Venezuelan vals (waltz?...sp?) by a Venezuelan composer and the song''s title is my name!. So we thought that was kind of cool...although my dad didn''t think the song was a good "dance" song, but we did what we could...lol

Mimzy my friend danced with her dad to that song, I love it! It''s a perfect song for it, and I''m jealous that she found it first!

Me too! Neither me or my dad is that great of a dancer, so this song allowed us to be a bit more comical and humorous about it all. Plus, we''ve never really had a sweet, mushy type of relationship anyway.

My dad and I danced to ''Everything'' by Michael Buble.

Originally we were going to leave the father/daughter dance until the very end of the night and dance it to ''Save the Last Dance For Me'' (also by Michael Buble), but the order of events didn''t lend themselves properly to that, so we went with plan B and loved it!

have you asked your parent/s if they had anything in mind? i was all set on another song until i casually mentioned the dance and asked if he had any ideas, and he had his heart set on the song. so you might want to run it by them - just a thought!
