Hi y'all! After getting married and buying a house I had to take a serious break from this place so I'd stop feeling the urge to spend money. Well, I still don't have much money but I'm back anyway
To avoid a long boring post I'll cut to the chase. I'm about to buy myself a 1-year-overdue 30th birthday present. My budget is crazy low, but I'm just about set on a half-carat-ish emerald cut diamond in a simple solitaire setting (with the intent to upgrade every so often until I eventually have a decent-sized rock). After that I'll save for a more elaborate setting.
Anyway, my immediate plan was to set it in a 2mm rose gold solitaire setting and stack it with the tri-colored 2mm rolling ring from rollingring.com. I tried to attach a picture, but I'm having some trouble.
The only thing I'm having an issue with is that I keep going back and forth between wanting the rose gold or the palladium. I know the general concensus is to go with white metal for an emerald cut (will be in the near colorless to colorless range) for the classy icy white look. I always figured when I got my emerald I'd put it in white gold or platinum, but I keep thinking that 1. I already have my wedding set in white gold, 2. It would be nice to have something different, and 3. Every time I go through the emeralds and asschers thread I fall in love with marcy's .55 solitaire in yellow gold. (I know she upgraded since then and the new ring is beautiful as well, but for some reason I keep coming back to that old one. There's just something so charming about it!) I feel like the contrast with the yellow gold is gorgeous and the contrast with the rose would have the same effect.
But then... white metal would look so gorgeous with the cut and I could wear white metal with the rolling ring too. So I don't know. If you all would just vote rose or white, I'd be forever grateful and maybe even show you a few pics when she's all done
Thanks in advance!
