DH and I are headed to Grand Cayman next week for our anniversary trip.

I''d like to pack a few healthy foods that can work as snacks or quick breakfasts while we''re there. I already bought some instant oatmeal and dried fruit & nut mix. Do you have any favorite packable foods you''d suggest?

Oh my gosh, how exciting; the Grand Canyon is so Beeeeautiful!!! Well I love cutting up celery, carrots, granola bars, beef jerky, some nut mixture. Have a wonderful time and happy anniversary.

Those presliced Thomas''s Bagels usually hold up for a week or so even if not refridgerated, and I''d take some fresh fruits like apples/bananas, things like granola bars, and of course some junk food like a big pack of twizzlers (for some reason my favorite car snack)!

Remember, you can''t take fresh fruit and vegetables across international borders.

granola bars

Ditto granola bars!

I was just about to say the same thing!

I like to have a high-fiber dry cereal like kashi go lean on hand for trips... either a whole box of in a gallon ziploc (easier to fit in luggage). Muesli is great too, if you have a Whole Foods they have a bulk dry goods area where you can get almost anything, energy food like almonds will be great.

Have a wonderful trip! I''ve never been to that area, please post pics when you get back!!

I really like to have those little packages of crackers with peanut butter or cheese to snack on when I''m traveling. They seem to be off the bad foods list, now.

We usually bring PB&J sandwiches stuff, crackers, granola bars, a flat of water from the store - aquafina on sale for $7.00, fruit, and a cooler so we can fill up on lunch meat and cheeses.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! There are some really great ideas here.

I like packages of nuts (walnuts, sunflower, almonds) mixed with dried fruit like golden raisins, prunes, mango, papaya.
Fig bars
There are some soft "breakfast cookies" I bought once that were really yummy.
Gum for the flight, and favorite munchy is m&m both chocolate and with nuts
You are making me hungry!

definitely pack some goodies, the grocery stores are not cheap there.
We rented a house there once, and for what we spent at the grocery
store, we could have stayed at a multi-suite hotel room!!

Go see the stingrays!!

Ohhhh, Sting Ray Alley is AWESOME and the snorkeling is too!!

Thanks for the tips!

HudsonHawk and Bebe (and anyone else who''s been to Grand Cayman), do you have any restaurant or club/bar suggestions? We''re definitely interested in trying conch fritters.

conch fritters are great. As is conch salad (a ceviche-type dish). I was just there for a day on a stop over for a cruise. One word of advice. Do NOT try to pet the dog outside the jewelry store near the port. He''s not very nice when he''s working....
