Can anyone offer suggestions about the diamond that would fit this description:

Size: .75ct
Cut: Ideal
Color: No lower than I
Price point: 1,500-2,500

When I use Pricescope to search for diamonds, I come up with lots of hits. While I''m probably not alone, I can get overwhelmed with so many options.

This diamond caught my eye: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6165/
It''s H&A and, assuming it''s eye clean, looks pretty good.

Or, should I opt for a cheaper diamond with similar specs:
http://www.whiteflash.com/round/Round-cut-diamond-2229010.htm

Or something in the middle?

I would like to put the diamond in a sidestone setting, but those can be expensive - maybe a cheaper diamond? Or, if I go solitaire, get a high quality diamond? Ideally, the setting will be an affordably priced sidestone setting and a nice diamond - but given these considerations will a $1800 diamond fit the bill better than the $2,500? (no pun intended)

Not enough info on the WF stone, that is not in-house but a virtual stone that they will have to call in.

What kind of side-stones setting are you looking at?

At the risk of asking too much, I split the setting into another thread.

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/sidestone-setting-recommendation.131176/

Basically, I like the Three Row Domes Micro Pave from White Flash - but it is a bit pricey. I haven''t found anything comparable to it. The other similar sidestone layouts (like this one BN) often have a slight flare up as it approaches the center ring. I refer that the sidestones remain flush like the one listed from WF.

Regarding the WF stone I listed, how much more info do I need? Does the GIA report not tell enough to know how good of a stone it is? What about the GOG one?

TIA

The GIA report is not uploaded so can''t say anything.

No because it does not list the angles of the diamond cut.

That one is gorgeous. GOG is a great vendor and carries some really great stones.

Nice!

eidrunner you should try to get the stone and setting at one place, it is simpler and also the vendor will take responsibility for the diamond during the setting process. They won''t if it is not their diamond. So if you are really set on a setting from a particular location, then try to ge ta diamond from there too.

With your budget I would persoanlly put all my money towards the stone and get a nice simple temporary setting, then get my dream setting later when funds allow. Many people change their minds about the type of setting they like best after wearing a ring for a while.

The GOG diamond is beautiful, you could certainly consider that one. The WF diamond would have to be called in as it does not appear to be an inventory stone - but personally I wouldn't bother as it is too deep anyway.

Funny, I was just looking at .75ct stones @ JA last week and almost selected that one but was turned off by the medium-blue florescence as I thought it might appear hazy.

I ended up going w/ a slightly smaller one (0.70) with better polish and color for about the same price:

Almost no chance of that happening, trying to see the fluor effect is already difficult in the best of conditions for a med blue. Oily/hazy effect is mainly for the strong/very strong blue fluor.

I think the GOG fits the bill. It''s beautiful.

Is this for an engagement ring? Will you/she want to pair a wedding band with it? I ask because I thought (someone correct me if I''m wrong) that a three-sided pave ring will ''eat'' away at a band next to it.

Yes, this is for an engagement ring.

I want to pair a wedding band with it. I was looking at sidestones + matching sidestones for the band, but considering that may set me back 2k, I might just go with a simple solitaire setting.
