Carat: 1.58
Color: H (my only gripe)
Clarity: SI1 (have confirmed it is eye clean)
Cut: Triple Ideal Signature H&A stone (Brian Gavin)
Depth: 61.7
Table: 55.4
Crown Angle: 34.7
Pavilion Angle: 40.8
HCA Score: 1.4
Girdle: Thin to medium faceted
Culet: Pointed (none)
Fluorescence: negligible

My gripe is with the H color, as I've been looking at some Triple EX cut G and F colors that appear to be very white. I'm trying to arrange an appointment at a local vendor today to take a look at some hearts on fire stones to see if these Signature H&A stones, even with a drop in color, will amaze me with their performance, fire, and brilliance. I'm wondering how much a difference I will see... As of now, the stone I've listed above is of similar price to Triple EX cut G and F color stones... just obviously not cut as well as this signature H&A above but I still wouldn't say they're poorly cut either (the ones I've been looking at still score under a 2 on HCA)

It's a beautiful stone and will perform very well. But only you can decide if the color is acceptable or not - fwiw, I have 2 G's and they face up very white; I can only see a very slight tint and I have very color sensitive eyes.

Yeah, I need to get to this vendor that sells hearts on fire stones to see how much the tradeoff is.

I can afford an H color signature H&A....

or a G/F color Triple EX

I would choose a BGD AGS 0 graded H&A stone over the GIA. Once you look at the Hearts on Fire and see how the H looks, I think you will have your answer. Compare them to a GIA graded G/F and see what you think.

That's my plan tonight.

Is to go to Bachendorfs and view their hearts on fire H color stones to those of a G/F color Triple EX GIA certified.... and see what stands out to me most.

yeah, this one looks great :) but it is up to you if you are ok with H color. I think your plan sounds good. Report back and let us know!

I think the way this diamond is cut will hide any body color.

very nice stone :appl: small table with good crown height...

Will be seeing it in person tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight, I'm going to view some hearts on fire stones hoping they have some H color ones I can look at.

From the sounds of things, this stone MIGHT be the one :)

Let's just hope it's truly eye clean and I don't notice any yellow tints!

looks like a very nice SI1 stone. don't see any inclusions on the hearts...

I went to Bachendorfs tonight to compare. I don't think it was a very fair comparison though.

They had what I think was a 1.5 carat Triple Ex "G" color but it was set in a nice platinum solitaire setting, which to my understanding, makes the diamond look bigger and whiter even.

They had a Hearts on Fire "H" color loose diamond 1.2 carat.....

So, I'm comparing one G color stone of 1.5 carats already set in a nice setting.... and a 1.2 carat loose H color hearts on fire stone. Not a very fair comparison IMO.

The colors looked the same to be honest... but the sizes were so different, I couldn't get much of a gauge on anything else. He did have an idealscope tool to show me the hearts and arrows on the HOF diamond... that was REALLY cool. I didn't notice too much in the brilliance and sparkle factor.... mostly because the HOF stone was loose and smaller and the G color diamond was in a setting and bigger.... so they looked relatively the same to be honest. :(sad

The price tag was the biggest difference. A "G" color 1.5 carat stone there went for $16,000.... where the "H" color Hearts on Fire 1.5 carat stone was going for $25,000..... SICK!

Tomorrow will be a better comparison. From what you guys have said so far, this H color H&A stone may be the winner :).....

An H should face up nice and white on a really well cut stone, especially under the parameters you're looking and the fact that Gs look good to you as well.

Fortunately I think you will find BGD helpful and accommodating should you discover that you are unhappy with the H - though I have no doubt it will be a lovely stone :))
