Ordered dbty necklace w plat bezels and yg chain - mistake?

Hi everyone -

After a fair bit of deliberation I just placed an order with WF for a custom dbty necklace - 7 x .15ct stones set in platinum bezels, on an 18" 18kt yellow gold chain. When I tried the dbty necklaces on in Tiffany's the platinum looked a little 'dull' to me, and the yellow gold just appealed to me more. WF suggested the platinum bezels however in order to maximize the size impact of the stones.

This seemed like a good idea, however I have never seen anything done in this two tone fashion and now I'm worried that I've made a mistake. Can anyone provide feedback on this? Also, if anyone has photos of platinum bezels with a yellow gold chain they would be most appreciated.

I try to avoid white gold, so platinum and yellow gold are the only two options that I've considered.

I've seen quite a few two tone gold pieces and i think your necklace will be beautiful just as you've ordered it.
D&T did the same thing with a dbty bracelet, have a look at the pics on this link.

It sounds wonderful! I've seen a lot of two tone pieces as well, and it will really enhance the white of the diamonds for even more contrast. Eager to see the new addition to the family!! When are you expecting to receive this DBTY necklace?

In the end, all that matters is that YOU are happy, but fwiw, I think it will be gorgeous!

In most rings that are yellow gold, the diamonds are usually set in either platinum or white gold so that the prongs are mostly invisible. It is common to do that with any diamond jewelry set in yellow or even rose gold. So I absolutely would have the diamonds set in white metal regardless of the color of the chain. And in fact, I would absolutely LOVE to have one with rose gold chain and platinum bezels! So I think yours will be perfect! Can't wait to see it!

Did you see Orbaya's new 15 pt. dby necklace on the Show Me the Bling part of the forum? Hers is 16" but she said she wanted to change it to 17. I am thinking hers has 10 stones but I am not positive off the top of my head.

As everyone said, it'll look great having the diamonds set with platinum. My eng. ring is YG but the diamond is set with platinum.

I think it sounds totally delicious! I love how yellow gold looks on the skin, but the platinum will make the diamonds pop and look bigger. Please post pics when done!

The bracelet that belonged to D&T posted above I believe she turned into a necklace as I bought it! It is Princess cut diamonds set in white gold with a yellow gold chain. I honestly love it. Even though we bought it for a 60th Birthday present for my MIL I'm highly debating keeping it!!!!- Ok I won't I wil give it to her but the idea is tempting! I also have a white gold DBTY necklace from BGD and though it is nice I think the two tone look is much nicer.

I don't think you will be upset at all and you will definitely love it. If you want pictures of my (D&Ts) necklace I'm happy to take some and post away.

I would never have thought of setting the diamonds in platinum with a yellow gold chain. From what I have read in previous posts it seems to make sense and I can't wait to see pictures!!!!
