I finally got around to setting my opposed bar tourmaline and faceted ethiopian opal.
I didn't set the tourmaline for a long time because I couldn't really see it in a ring that I would wear...but I thought it was too small to be a pendant. But then I got a 4mm faceted ethiopian opal, it is beautifully translucent, with mesmerizing flashes of colors, especially blue and greens. It has a kind of magic that just goes perfectly with the moving pixelation of the tourmaline. So I sent both off to Daniel M to put in a simple sterling silver setting.
And here are his pics! I won't receive the real deal until 2 weeks or so since it will be shipped along with my star sapphire ring when it's finished.
The tourmaline is 1.52ct, 9x5. The opal is 4mm (forgot the ct weight, sorry!)
Here are pics of the loose stones first
