Hello hello,

I have learned SO much over the past 8 months from this community - I have come to view many of the members as my big sisters and brothers when it comes to jewelry purchases and plans. For this I want to thank you all!

Hubby and I have been talking about my plans for the diamond that I received in October. I knew I wanted to start working on something, but really didn''t know what that "something" was going to be. So, we had the diamond set (the one in my avatar) into a simple and classic setting until I figured out what I''d like.

The stone is a .76ct J, VS2(maybe VS1, I can''t remember at the moment), EX/EX. I absolutely love t, it throws fire like I never thought a diamond could... and I am a BIG lover of fire... I live in California where it''s ALWAYS sunny and where there''s plenty of traffic. I keep myself content by making rainbows around the car - ceiling, door, steering wheel, etc - while sitting in traffic. hehe... the people around me probably think I''m nuts, but hey, it makes me a happy girl :-)

Ok, so my question...

I am considering purchasing a matching diamond for the one that I have, to set as part of a 3 stone ring. The center stone shape is what has me stumped. Being that I LOVE fire and the more sparklie the better, by my personal preference, would it be silly to consider a cushion or a radiant for the center stone? I am thinking with 2 - .75ct side stones, a 1.75 center stone (if it were round) would likely be a good fit. But, I do not know what shape would look best and would help show off the side stones.

Suggestions? Pictures (even better)? Please!!

Thanks girls and gents :-)

I really think three round diamonds would look best since you have a .75 for a side stone. I think small rounds can go on either side of any shape, but .75 is not exactly small! Here is a picture that will show you what a 1.5 ct. stone will look like with two side .75''s. I''ll tell you that it would be very big and blingy!!!

Thank you, Skippy and DS!! Both very very VERY helpful links and info.

Those pics definitely help to visualize the sizes and general appearance, thank you for posting them!

Diamondseeker - that is a great pic you posted, very helpful. Maybe it could go into the helpful threads archive, though I don''t know how to get stuff into there? Anyone?

Great idea! I can do it.

I think I''d go with all 3 stones as rounds.

Since your center stone is a round, it'll look better as a 3 stone round ring.
