Hi!

Well, about price, here are some quick stats for princess cuts of 1.2-13cts with table and depth up to 75%:

- I/SI1 (GIA) are listed between $3400/ct and $4004 /ct
- H/SI1 (GIA) between $3600/ct and $6000/ct
- J/SI1 (GIA) between $3100/ct and $4000/ct

Some of these may be branded for cut (such as the signature collection of Blue Nile that gets mixed into PS database searches). However, the vast majority are not and the price variation is everyone's guess

A grade or two of color do not seem to avoind lots of price overlap, as you can see.

At about $3000/ct, your princess cut sounds appealing indeed

For all that this is worth, an J/SI2 (GIA) diamond of matching weight and proportions would be as expensive per carat. But I would not be so pessimistic about EGL (the USA brach) grades.

Two questions remains about this stone: #1- How does the ideal Scope look like? and #2 - how clean is it? Any chances to get such info from the seller?

Hope this helps...

I recieved a image and a ideal scope of the diamond, they tell me it is eye clean and it looks like that from the image. Im not exactly sure what would be good for a princess under a ideal scope, I dont see much white except in the circle in the center, what do you think?

If I believe the hazy Iscope image, that central white patch should be "see through" - somewhat like the open culet of an old cut. Since I am not the biggest fan of princess cuts, I didn't see a load of them and definitely none with a glaring dull spot in the middle.

I ca't see any major inclusion in the black and white picture and the Iscope is terribly out of focus

More by guessing through than looking at the pictures, this should be a nice piece. Hopefully not like the picture which is tilted. I think the pictures look worse than the stone will by all means (the black and white is nt consistent with VG symmetry, for ex.).

I know it is not easy to take such pictures at all, and it musn't have been part of a jeweler's job until recently

I wish I could see the inclusion plot along with the picture.

Hope better advice is on the way

Tough call here. If your girlfriend is 5'11', then she probably has man-hands. Is her weight a problem as well?

If she is a fatty, then I'd suggest you go with a large princess cut diamond to negate this. ----------------

We have looked at diamonds and anything between a .75 carat and 1.5 carat in a solitare look good on her. What I am more concerned about is if the ideal scope image is acceptable, if so I will purchase this diamond and look at it for myself.

Excuse me for being frank but that is one of the poorest quality IS images I've ever seen. The amount of gemological information to be garnered from that image is nil.

Oh man, I'm with the J man on that one. That is pretty bad. Hmmm, let's see if I can come up with some links...
(p.s.- I'm 5'11" too (unfortunately, also 5'11" sideways lol) and I know it's hard. Stones that look huge on petite gals look small on me. But, my advice is to still focus on quality over size.

They took another idealscope picture, to me it dosent really look much better just bigger. Let me know, thanks.

id look elsewhere. this looks like a really not good stone to me.

I would rather have a piece of glass. Honestly, that stone is a dud (sorry to be so blunt). Here's the IS image from my stone which is SPECTACULAR if I do say so myself! Rhino also has some awesome ones on his site (GOG), as does WF.

A helpful hint is to try and keep the table smaller than or equal to the depth (I prefer 3-5%). Also, be sure to get the crown and pavilion info!

Thank you for your replys, im going to forget about this stone. I have been looking around and thing I found one I like at goodoldgold I will start a new thread.
