Opinions please: prongs too round?

Would love your input...
Received my new platinum setting for my round brilliant which I love except I've gone back and forth with the prongs. They appear quite bulbous to me. I had the setting replicated from a diamond setting in the jewelers store and the prongs were flatter and more claw-like on that setting.
When I showed a couple people they thought I had a cushion cut because the prongs made the stone look more square.
If I decided to change the prongs do I have to pay for the change and will they have to re-make the setting?
Thanks!

Hi Elle,

I do see what you mean, the prongs appear to be a bit thick where they curve over the stone, I am sure they can be refined without too much difficulty. It sounds as if you just received the ring? If so, definitely approach the jeweller and request a modification with the prongs, hopefully if that is the case, they will do the work without charge, if you have had the ring a while then there might be a fee involved. They might be able to do the work with the existing head of the ring, I would suggest if you have just received it don't wait too long before approaching them.

It's a beautiful ring and stone!

I do not think your prongs make your stone look like a cushion at all - that said, I would want them shaved down a bit.

I think they look alright.

I had mine shaved down a bit and the jeweler did it while I waited. It was a very easy adjustment and I'm much happier with the result.

Thanks for everyone's replies! These prongs are more what I had in mind. Do you think the jeweler can do this without a total re-do project?

I see what you mean, OP, and I agree with you... I think the placement of the prongs is off as well. They are spaced too high and close together as is. Ask your jeweler if this can be corrected as well. Good luck! :))

I thought something was off with the placement of the prongs too! Glad someone else could confirm that for me!
I was thinking maybe they were off because there is kind of an eye visible inclusion that I requested for them to cover with a prong.
I'm thinking this might be a re-do as I can't imagine them being able to make the prongs wider.
