Opinions please! New wedding set or just new semi-mount?

Sorry to keep bugging everyone! Now I have a new dilemma!

Here''s the scoop == my grandparents recently died and my mom sold their house. She wants to give me some $$ to buy myself something nice as a rememberance of them.

I was going to use the money to have my 1.5ct round put into a 3 stone ring. After looking at all the beautiful wedding sets on PC (bad influence!) I am thinking of getting a new wedding set instead. I really like the smaller shared prong set diamond sets like Mara and so many people have. Plus, my set isn''t matching and the solitaire is too wide to wear with my band (at least it''s too wide for my tastes).

However, I also really like eternity bands. I am eying the channel set princess band on the Signed Pieces website. I think my mom wants me to get a separate ring but of course she says it''s up to me.

I keep going back and forth -- new set, OR princess eternity band and having my solitaire set into a thinner setting so I could wear it with my diamond band?

The setting I really like is from Gottlieb & Sons. Style #26108.

Here''s the eternity band I absolutely adore. I think it''s 1.5ct.

Jellybean,

I think the wedding set you posted is absolutely gorgeous! I think it''s a nice idea, your wedding set is something you wear everyday so it would incorperate your granparents into your daily life, a little bit like getting engaged with your grandmother''s ring. Good luck!

I must say, that wedding set is delicious looking! That gets my vote, but then again, I do love the eternity band too! So no matter what you decide, it will be gorgeous!!

Good luck with the tough decision!!

I definitely vote wedding set. It''s gorgeous, and whether you''re wearing your e-ring, w-band, or both, grandmom''s memory will always be a part of the ring on your finger.

I love that wedding set.

This is a very ignorant question, but what does semi-mount mean exactly? Thanks!

Wedding set! Wedding set! Gorgeous!

Plus you could always buy a smaller carat weight version of the anniversary band relatively inexpensively now or later. You could have both!

I agree with doing what you want with the wedding set, you will be wearing it daily which would have more of an impact than an eternity ring which may or may not be worn daily over time....

The setting you like is beautiful...have fun whatever you do!

I love the wedding set you posted. I love the princess band too!! Do what makes you happy...the memories will always be there no matter what you choose!

I just have to vote for the separate eternity band. I think the wedding set is gorgeous, but, IMO I''d rather not mix families--I''d want something separate from MY grandparents/mom that reminds me of them that is not mixed up with my husband/family.

But that''s just my opinion. Others may think it''s more special to combine the diamonds from his family with the ring ($$$) from yours--i.e. the 2 become one.

Thanks for the replies. I went to the jeweler today and they are going to order the Gottlieb setting so I can see it in person. I am leaning toward the new set, although I did try on an eternity band and thought....hmmm.....

My mom totally wants me to get the eternity band, not necessarily because it''s "mixing families", but she''d rather me put all the $$ in one ring instead of two. She is only giving me $2,000, so it''s not like a ton of money. She also thinks one ring is more of a keepsake than to say my wedding set is the keepsake. She does have valid points but I know I need to do what I want.

Here''s a picture of my current set. The contour band on the e-ring is too wide IMO. Ironically, half the salespeople at the jewelry store said to get the eternity band and get a smaller solitaire setting for the e-ring. I do get a lot of compliments on it.

I''m going to buck the advice trend and suggest getting something totally separate. If I were you I''d get another ring/piece of jewelry that you can look at and think of your grandmother. Rather than your wedding set, which half of it is reminiscent of your grandma, and half of your husband. Of course it''s your choice, that''s just what I would do.

But, having said that, the setting you like is stunning - if you go for it please post pics, I adore it. It''s an awesome choice and the money would be wonderfully spent there too.

What about getting two shared-prong bands? That you can wear stacked on top of each other on the same hand, or wear one at a time, etc.
