The HCA says its a TIC, but I would have predicted it to be more BIC with that low crown and relatively large table. I guess my concerns would be is the fire mostly around the rim of the diamond and seen mainly when the stone is at an angle (due to low crown angle), and are there any head obstruction problems (due to shallower depth.)

I can recall reading some older posts that said the HCS has a slight bias toward the shallower stones. But shallow stones are sometimes called pendant stones, because they look great at maybe arm's length but are "dark" when viewed up close.

You can search here and find more posts on the subject of how the proportions affect fire, brilliance, and /or balance of fire vs. brilliance.

Thanks so much for info, but now I am even more concerned.... and confused...

Using the HCA tool, it gives ex,ex,ex,ex.... this is this 1st stone I have found with this.

If there are other concerns I am getting to the point where I am information overload about a subject I do not know much about.

I guess I want to dumb down the answer I guess. But please don’t get me wrong, it is very interesting and helpful getting this input.

Can you comment on the stone in "general terms" vs. the price quoted, and ultimately would it be a nice stone, when neither I nor my partner really knows much about this subject.

Further to that, can you perhaps tell me what parameters I should actually consider for the HCA tool? I am simply entering numbers and hoping for the best, but what range (for each category) should I actually be looking for?

I.e. - depth "x-y", table "x-y", angle "x-y" etc etc etc..

Thank you so so much

With rounds, I generally aim for these measurements, which usually will result in the ideal cut range:

table: 54-58

depth: 60.0-63.3

crown angle: 34-35.0

pavilion angle: 40.6-41.0

girdle: thin, medium, slightly thick

Most ideal cut stones will score Excellent on the 1st three areas on the HAC and very good on spread. If you are looking at AGS Ideal cut stones, you don't use the HCA since AGS has graded light performance.
