:saint: I can't believe I've fallen for a halo. I thought I didn't even like them, but suddenly this style jumped out at me and I'm excited about it. It looks simple and durable, I love the side profile, and I like the idea that it would turn my 0.70 ACA into a little sun =)
I'm warming up a lot to the rose gold as opposed to white.
Researching halos on plain shanks, I came across Niel's ring. Niel, if you read this I'm curious to know if you still have this style, is it comfortable, did you have it sized the same as a perfectly round shank?
I would love some honest opinions on this ring and doing rose vs. white gold. This would be a right hand 24/7 ring.
I've asked Whiteflash if they can milgrain the bezels for me.

I think this would look amazing as a RHR in rose gold!! What color is your ACA?? I don't own this setting, but I tried it on and the shape of the band felt extremely comfy. Also, the "cut-out" at the top will allow for a little extra roominess, should your fingers swell in the summer -- or every morning for me... ::) ;))

I do not have it. But it has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the setting. The stone wasn't what I want what I was looking for. Any if you got rid of the stone you had to get rid of the setting ;(

It was comfortable. Durable yet extremely dainty. Minimalist yet had a lot of impact. I think about resetting my marquise in it weekly haha!

A rose gold shank is as much as I would do. I wouldn't go full rose gold. I planned on doing the shank rose gold but chickened out. I had it paired with a trinity though to get that rose gold look. That's another option.

As for sizing if say you could probably go 1/8th to 1/4th less than your normal and be happy. Mine was a strait 7.25 now I wear a "loose" 7.25 though I would imagine it could have more of an effect if you're finger size was smaller

Thanks for the encouragement! & I like the idea of the top allowing for some "changes". I hear you - my rings fit at night and are too tight in the morning, so that gap in the top might be a hidden blessing to the design.

I would like to discuss the idea of rose gold top vs white top... Neil, do you think a rose gold top would be a bad design choice?
I didn't know they could do the shank one color and top another & I thought the settings just came from Ritani one way, so that's good information.

That image is a photoshop I did but I specifically inquired about it during my setting search for a pear and a rep at ritani told me it was doable. I actually think the shank another color is a lovely design concept. Here's a similar ring IRL with that mixed metal idea.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad design choice. But the white metal halo allows for the bezel to blend really well into the stone. And eac individual stone I the halo to blend together. The rose gold kind of emphasizes the metal more.

Oh need that image lol

Niel, in the few minutes since I wrote my last post I started clicking on the Endless Love links and the white top looks fantastic. I like the size of my diamond, but I can see how the white top would really accentuate the stone rather than having a bezel ring of rose gold around the stone separating it from the pave. That said, a thin milgrain rose gold bezel might look good too. =) But I would like to get it right the first time. I have another couple of weeks to return my generic setting to WF and have them set my diamond, so that should be enough time to really think things through =)

I think there are pros to each look it's just a matter of what your going for KWIM?

As a postscript... What got me started on all this was day dreaming this morning about what I would really like. What I came up with was a bezel set round with "rays" around it like the sun. I got online and saw this Erika Winters ring: erika-winters-bridal-thea-halo-engagement-ring-jg-top.jpg
and thought WOW! that's it!
But the ring is huge...the undercarriage is a complex Victorian construct...and it's quite expensive, more fragile, etc, etc. Then, when I saw the Ritani I thought it was a beautiful, practical alternative that would be easy to wear all the time.
But isn't the EW's ring a pretty thing...
