You could ask for an Idealscope image of this diamond if you wish, to be honest it doesn't look too inspiring going by that picture but if you are interested in this one you could request more pics to see investigate further. Also you would need to check out the very thin part of the girdle that it isn't a durability issue by asking the vendor, these aren't always a problem but need careful evaluation especially in a Princess.

A neat tool I found durring my search for the perfect princess:

http://www.gemappraisers.com/oldcutgrade.asp

Use the drop down at the top to select princess cut. Then fill and click for a quick grade on the diamond''s cut.

As of now, you''ve only get 10 posts! No need for this to be the last thread.

Anyway, if you give us your parameters, perhaps we could look for you?

Lorelei what in the picture do you see that isn''t up to par?

It may just be the way the picture was taken...but there seems to be quite a bit of light leakage, especially in the upper left area and toward the corners. I'd look for a tighter cut. Are you set on JA, or would you consider other vendors? Here's a pretty nice looking one that's close to your price point. And this one is a bit smaller, but the cut is to die for! LOVE that ASET! I have a sneaking suspicion it might not be eye clean though.

All three of those might be promising...the picture quality isn't the greatest (they all seem tilted, and the first one is super-blurry), so that's all I can really say. I personally like the second one of that batch, the 0.56 J VS1, based on the facet pattern in the pic. The first stone...you'd definitely have to ask for better pics, since that blurry mess tells us nothing! I'd ask for Idealscopes of all 3. If the first one is nicely cut, you'd have the advantage of a higher color...and princesses tend to show more color than rounds, so going up from J to I could mean a big difference.

Thanks a bunch. Are the dark parts of the picture showing light leakage?

I like the second one best out of these.

As Jstar said concerning the first one ( thanks J!) it could be the picture that isn't showing this diamond to its best advantage, an Idealscope would tell us a bit more but I would consider some others as you are doing.
