Hi everyone,
hope you are all well!
i would Love any input on this tone that I am considering, a PoH J I1 (yes, i know, j I1, how controversial!

).
- the video of it is at good old gold, titled "Comparing a .81ct G SI1 Princess of Hearts to a 1.01ct J I1 Princess of Hearts". http://goodoldgold.com/video/ Thanks Jon!

I would love any feedback, including compliments, advice, crtiticism, throwing tomatoes, anything you feel like..

can you see the inclusion? Do you think it will be noticeable once set?

Stay tuned for plenty of setting questions, if everything goes ok....

I see nothing but arrows and sparkles! Looks great to me!

That''s one beautiful I1 J stone!!!

OHMYGOSH!!!

That video is AMAZING! Jon does it again!
Those diamonds were ALL gorgeous, but that I1 is BREATHTAKING!!! If I were in the market for a stone, I would SO SNAP THAT UP IN A NANO-SECOND! Ohmyword, totally swoon-worthy!
And what a great comparison to show a well cut G vs a well cut J!
Two thumbs UP!!!

I so agree, Lynn! Maybe I am not all that color sensitive, but the difference between the G and J was minute, to me!!! I would have no qualms buying any stone that Jonathan says is beautiful!!!

It''s really a beautiful stone! Are you gonna get it?!?!?!

I thought that it looked amazing!

I honestly couldn''t see a difference...

they are both lovely..

Hi guys!
DMpsGirl, ImpatientOne, Lynn, sera, Minou, Italia..
thankyou all for your replies and comments, you''re opinions mean alot to me and are always very helpful.
That was just what i thought, that the colour and clarity both look great! But I wanted to check that it wasn''t just my untrained eyes playing tricks
2.gif

And Sera, i''m thinking i may like to get it,..but at the right price..Unfortunately it is a little over my original budget. But then again, before PS I wanted a D-G VS1 stone and no idea of gorgeous propriatry cuts like the PoH!

Knowedge can be a dangerous thang!

I think the diamond looks YUMMY beautiful so OMG sparkly and rainbows to die for :)

I focused really really really hard looking for that inclusion nope nada could not see it at all I was mesmerised by those rainbows :)

I could only see the inclusion because Jon said where it was located, but it is white and transparent to my eyes, so this to me is an excellent I1 and the performance....

I think it is a gorgeous diamond!!!! What are your thoughts? These videos are so helpful, well done Jon! I think it may be a bit less noticeable when set, personally that inclusion wouldn't worry me too much as I love and own good I1's, but it is up to your comfort level. I think you may be able to notice the inclusion in some lights, but I don't think it would be obvious and probably not to those who were admiring your ring!

I think its gorgeous aswell, I really do love both the PoH and the square H&A, they''re both such great cuts. And as nobody does anything like them where i am (aust), I''m sure they would gain alot of attention!

The videos are an awesome tool - i don''t think i would have been brave enough to consider purcahse otherwise..and of course, its said all the time , but i will say again what an absolute champion that Jon is!

To be honest re the inclusion, I think I am along the lines as some of the other posters here, in that finding a slightly imperfect and "different" stone is actually appealing to me..in aust, you can''t find anything in the stores except D-G VS2 and above. Absolutely admire everyones stones that are white and high clarity of course, they''re all gorgeous, but I''m glad I''ve found my *diamond niche*
9.gif
I love the warmer colours aswell !
PS has been such an education for me..

Well thats my rant for now..I will keep you guys posted on any progress!

Thabkyou all for your help and gudnce in the last couple weeks

Jane, you think the way I do! As long as an inclusion doesn''t stick out like a sore thumb, I rather like them! It personalizes a diamond to me and also is a reminder that it has undergone an incredible journey! I have a little story here, which one of the experts posted some time ago.

They came across a GIA graded diamond of an I1 clarity, which had a rather unique inclusion which was visible from the table. The inclusion resembled a little man in a sled! In fact, this inclusion was so unusual, that GIA made a note in the comments section of the report! This diamond was set in a pendant and due to it''s rarity, even though the inclusion was easily visible, it sold pretty quickly!

That''s a gorgeous stone.

Neat story Lorelei!

* simper* thanks El !

I absolutely loved the video! I love the size of the I1 compared to the others but really couldn''t tell the differences between the clarity. It''s a beautiful stone!

Ellen, lorelei, 777 ldy,
thankyou again for your posts..this thread is making me get a big head about a stone I haven''t even decided to purchase yet!
That was a cool story lorelei - I''m so glad I found all you guys and PS, otherwise i never would have opened my mind up to even considering this stone - the only regret i have is, (as much as I love it), I wish i knew about you guys before buying my engagement ring a couple yrs ago!
2.gif

I agree 777, alhough the square H&A has a very great spread fo its size, the PoH was *I think* the winner in that video - kinda like the prettiest model who has the "beauty spot", for lack of a better analogy! ha ha
9.gif

Wow, that video was awesome! I thought all 3 stones were gorgeous. Could NOT tell a clarity difference. Could BARELY tell a color difference and that only in the "critical white background" view. I would definately got with the J I1 for the size, value and BEAUTY between those 3. And we''re always hearing a RB will mask color.........that PoH certainly shows that they can, too! I can''t get over that being an I1 either!
36.gif
I think you found a winner!

WOW!

30.gif

That is an amazing stone. Snatch that baby up!

That is a great video - I watched it and was totally taken with that I1!!

I''m sure it would get a lot of attention because I know mine sure does... people see that it''s square but also know it''s "different" from what they normally see, so they tend to ask about it.

ooo I watched this video earlier today, and
30.gif
what a beauty!

Jenn, Erica, Bem, Coatimundi, thankyou all for posting!
Sera, I know I''ve said this before, but your ring, being one of the only PoH I''ve seen in true to life photos, was one of my deciding factors in choosing to chase one of these! Your ring is extremely pretty, i only hope mine is as nice once its set.

On another tip, seeing as I''m working to a budget and currently won''t be able to create my "dream" setting, I''m looking at getting a more simple solitaire style. As miost of the "off the shelf" aren''t quite what i''m looking for, I''m thinking to go custom..
I like things to be a little different, like modern settings such as Sholdt or Michael Bodanza- but its a bit outta my price range for a designer piece.
Does anyone have a good suggestion for a custom designer that is economical but would be able to do something quite modern like these designers I mentioned?

Does anyone have an opinion on GOG custom settings? both pricing and feedback?

thankyou all for your wonderful comments!
I will be sure when the process is finally over to post lots of *aussie handshots*

I''ve only seen a handful of custom settings from them, but they''ve all looked very nice. Don''t remember if pricing was mentioned.

I''d suggest drawing up what you want and send it to them for a quote, and also WF and Quest, as the latter two are known for more budget friendly prices. They both do good work.

Here''s links to some of their custom pieces. You might try searching "GOG custom" on here and see what comes up.

Quest

I think it''s amazing how a well cut diamond disguises inclusions. The video was amazing. GOG has great videos! Have you made a decision?
