Hey All,
I've been browsing for some time now, and decided to register and get opinions because I'm about to make a purchase now. I'm trying to keep the diamond itself under $3,000. I've learned a lot here, which took me further than just cut, and onto things like depth etc. Below is the link to the diamond I'm looking at. It's .78ct and I plan to use a halo setting. Her ring size is small (4.5). It scored a 1.3 on psc excellent all except spread which was very good.

Appreciate the advice!

Hi, maybe it's my pad, but your links are taking me to the Bluenile website page not a particular diamond.

Looks clean. Verify it is eyeclean and you are fine!

Thank you! I did have one more to consider. The difference being that this one is SI2 and is .92 vs .78

Calculator says its roughly 12% more surface area, but I'm not sure if it's worth the jump. Price wise it's $78 more. Is that worth the drop from VS2 to SI2 to gain the potentially small size difference?

It's unlikely to be eyeclean, OR have a cloud or something that affects the brilliance of the stone. So unless you have a picture of the stone AND BN has a gemologist look at it and said that the inclusions are not visible AND do not have an impact on brilliance, there's no point in considering it.

What are the diameters on both stones (the links are being problematic again)?

The rep at BN even advised against it. They sent for pictures, but turns out it had a problem or something. I actually bumped my price range up a little bit and settled on this one:

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD06972540

.9ct, I color, VS1, Ideal
Depth: 61.8
Table: 56.0
Crown: 34.0
Pavilion: 40.8

Measurements: 6.19 x 6.18 x 3.82 mm

Price was $3,618 and came back as a 1.0 on HCA. I found similar diamonds on other websites like JA etc, but the table/depth/crown/pavilion didn't do so well on HCA. I've used your recommendations to others as a guide and used those filters through this whole process.
