The identifying inclusions are crystals and needles. There are clouds that are not shown.

The crown/pavilion angles are too steep/deep. Will probably suffer some degree of light leakage. I would keep looking.

I think it is a magnificent diamond, with GIA Excellent cut you'l get all the sparkle you need from a diamond.
The clouds are negligible GIA even did not mark them in the plot.

Crown and pavilion are not complementary. A 35.5 crown should be paired with a pavilion more like a 40.6 I would keep looking. What are your desired specs and budget?

Thanks so much everyone. :D I'm thinking 8k range? I currently have a .79 non-certified diamond. It was appraised by a B&M as F, very good cut VS1 clarity. I would love to get 1.35- 1.40 cts range so it would be a noticeable upgrade. For my budget it looks like I can get I color, excellent or very good cut,SI clarity,? I need to look at I color diamonds in person.
I contacted WF today to see what they have. I'm considering this one, thoughts?

Unless there's a typo, absolutely not. Depth less than 60, and table 62? 100% hard pass. It must be a stone that isn't in house, because WF wouldn't usually have a stone like that in house.

This advice is just wrong, IMHO. That stone is too steep/deep.

yes. Stick to depth less than (or equal to) 62.4

Also, for this one we don't know the crown or pav angles, so it's hard to give advice on it.

Screen Shot 2019-03-24 at 1.57.49 PM.png I wanted to what a 1.25 - 1.3 ct looked like on me so checked out a reputable b&m. I didn't see a huge difference compared to my .79 VG cut, F, VS1. I think I need to bump up the size a bit?I really noticed a difference in the 1.4-1.5 range :|. We compared some h&a, H, SI, 1.4 to 1.5 , all falling in the PS ideal ranges. TBH, I didn't see a huge difference between their diamonds & mine? (after they gave my ring a good cleaning lol) other than the size of course.
We even looked at some SI2s they had, excellent cuts again within PS standards. I have to say those stones looked awesome. I looked through their microscope and took the diamond away from all the bright lights in a dark room just to be sure. None of the inclusions were major (no knots etc).
I also looked at some I color diamonds TBH, couldn't tell it from the H colored ones.
Based on that, wondering if this stone would work for me

Cut-wise, I like the first one better ... but I wonder if it’s not too cloudy. Are clouds the grade-setting inclusion (the first one listed on the certificate)? If so, and additional clouds not shown, at SI1 it might be a cloudy diamond. You may have seen some SI2s where the inclusions weren’t bothersome, but there can be quite a range - not all SI1s/SI2s are equal. I think you really need to see it in person, or have someone you trust see it in person.

The second one is 60/60 style, so it will have great spread for the weight, with a more shallow crown and less complimentary angles ... the clarity looks a lot better. The larger table with shallow crown will mean you get more white light return than colored light return (fire). It’s not a style that I personally prefer ... I agree with @lovedogs and wouldn’t recommend this one because the table is bigger than the depth ... but it’s not crazy bigger either and who knows what it looks like in real life.

I would run them through the HCA but I have no more free calculations.

The thing about jewelry stores is that they use multi-directional lighting ... this makes it really hard to tell cut quality because those lights are designed to make all diamonds look good.

When you were looking at diamonds for size, did you take the cut grades into consideration? I think you should be able to see a big difference between a .79 and a 1.25 carat. I mean, you’ll obviously see more of a difference with the 1.5, but .... at the same time I don’t know what I’m saying because who wouldn’t want to go up to the 1.4 or 1.5 instead, lol. You’re right, haha, not enough difference in the 1.25 :wink2:

I seem to be posting this video these days ... I guess it’s my video of the month ... but it shows how the light will make unequal cuts look pretty much the same in jewelry store lighting ... not sure what to say about looking at them in a dark room. Basically, this is just a video comparing a good GIA XXX to a bad GIA XXX, but I think it’s one of my favorites.

The numbers on this diamond look very promising. Can you get Aset and Idealscope images from the vendor for light performance?

Edit : Hearts and Arrows image will be useful also for cut precision.
