Hello,

I have been searching for the perfect diamond for quite some time now and I came across an ACA that has the size/cut/color I am interested in.
However I was concerned when I saw the IS image for the diamond.

What are your comments on this image?
I felt that there was too much light leakage under the table and also that the symmetry was off. Do you agree or am I over analyzing it too much?

Your opinions are much appreciated.

Thanks!

I agree - the symmetry looks off. I would be curious to see the magnified pics as well.

The leakage you see is controlled intentional leakage of a Classic Line ACA which is said to help aid contrast and scintillation in the diamond, no worries. As to the IS image, I would personally doubt there is a problem, but the best way to know for sure is to contact WF and ask them, as we cannot physically see the diamond or know for sure as consumers. It is possible it is a result of the stone or equipment being tilted when the image was taken, but WF will be able to tell you for sure, and IF there is a problem, take the necessary steps to resolve it.

Here is some info copied from the thread below which may be helpful, further reading in John's post within the thread.

"In general terms, 'New Line' ACA are characterized by minimal light leakage in their ideal-scope photos. 'Classic' ACA are characterized by slight leakage points along the girdle and at predicted meets between the table and girdle. To untrained observers the tangible differences are very slight. All ACA are cut with Visual Balance as a priority, so in terms of overall performance they're paramount. However, after handling, studying and playing with many ACAs distinctions like these can stand out. When customers come in they can see slight character differences, particularly once we elaborate on them."

I would call them if you have any fears and I they will put you at ease. They are excellent at answer questions or concerns.

Indeed they are.

I was a bit worried when I first saw the IS images for my ACA and saw the same tilt. I panicked that my ACA wasn''t as good cause the table looked off, but when I looked at the stone with the H&A viewer it''s totally fine. The stone/equipment was tilted when the photo was taken. If you tilt the H&A viewer around you can see this effect, when the equipment/stone is not aligned it will do that funky thing.

I would doubt (maybe I am wrong?) that if that IS image is right and not titled in any way - how would it receive a O for symmetry on the AGS report?

I would ask WF to confirm though - please do post back, you don''t want me panicking again do you

Honey, SO sorry I didn''t see this post until now! Would have been happy to help you sooner.

On the rare times this happens, it''s usually atrributable to the diamond being tilted when photographed. We just brought in over 300 new stones, and photography has been under incredible demand to get photographs taken as many have already presold.

While we suspect that to be the problem, you KNOW how cautious Brian is about maintaining the integrity of the brand. He doesn''t want anything even remotely less than perfect representing his brand, so we''ve actually pulled this stone for further evaluation/examination to make sure it passes muster.

Thanks for calling my attention to it so we could be proactive, Honey! I really appreciate it.

I''m glad Alj answered, but I was going to say that you never have to worry about an ACA! It''s not possible to be an ACA and AGS0 and be non-symmetrical! It''s the photography!

Thankyou so much Alison! I guess my problem was the ACA I have at home in the safe had the same problem with the image, but Brian did pick it, so that really should be enough for me. When I look with the WF H&A viewer it looks fine, but when this post came up I did have a little freaky!

Please let us know what the outcome is after Brian gives it another look.

Once again - incredible service from WF. Thankyou!

Honey88, I can absolutely guarantee you that a diamond''s performance in compromised.........when it''s stuck in a dark safe! Light performance dwindles to nil........unless you have a lighted safe!

Update on the situation:

I contacted WF and after Brian re-examined the diamond he decided to remove it as an ACA.
I really commend WF on their actions and it just goes to show that WF really does care about the quality of their products.

I have no doubt that I will buy my diamond from WF but but I guess my search for the perfect diamond will have to continue for now...

I totally agree with you Allison!! I think I have to have a chat with the boy and tell him he is ruining a perfectly good ACA!

You must have been talking to Lesley - she is keen to light a fire too!!

On a more serious note, did Brian remove this as an ACA due to that funky IS image, cause my stone looked the same?!
