So honestly, I''ve done a TON of homework on stones. And this place is amazing by the way. This is my first post as a newb here so here goes...
These two look pretty good to me but the whole buying a stone online sight unseen (minus the picture) kind of scares me. The one from Whiteflash scored a 1.1 on the HCA and looks great by all accounts. The one from JA did not as well but looks pretty good too. There is just something about seeing the stone and seeing how much fire and sparkle it has regardless of the numbers from a B&M store that appeals, but they just don''t seem to have the selection obviously. It seems to be relatively safe to go with WF or the likes, if you don''t like it you can return it, but yeah, sight unseen still concerns me on a purchase this big. Never the less opinions on these stones please?

They are both great..if you go for the JA stone ask for a hearts image

so how does it work, if i buy this diamond and have a local jeweler make the ring and such for it? i guess there would be no upgrade policy and such. but truthfully the lady never wants a different rind anyways...

Both stones looks good. I believe upgrade policy is with the stone and not the ring anyway, but you never know about needing it, I believe several posters here also believe they will never upgrade when they first gotten their e-ring.

Check with the local jeweler as most of them will not cover damages to the diamond that is not bought from them during setting. If so, you will need to buy insurance for it during setting. Jewelers Mutual sell insurance for that, not sure if any other companies provide that.

The upgrade is for the diamond, not the ring itself so you would need to check with the vendor you buy from.

www.jewelersmutual.com used to sell insurance to cover the diamond while setting if you have the diamond set by a different vendor to the one who sold it, I don''t know if they still offer this but you can check.

Well I ended up getting a stone from a very very well known and trusted local store, Genesis Diamonds here in Nashville.
E/VS2 Excellent Ideal cut .58 carat The stone almost glows in the dark, its unbelievable.

Price, $2,000 (comes in a "free" 14k 4prong setting) But I will have it put in a modified H. Levy setting, apparently the owner of the store and Levy are good buddies so he does custom work for them. Don''t have pics yet, because it is on layaway as I get it payed off, but wowsers its nice.

Congrats!

Thanks! Hopefully it will appraise well and that I got a good price.
