Hi,

So, I have narrowed my diamond search down to either an antique or modern cushion OR a old mine cut stone. With that said I have been looking at cushions on ERD and I have found a few that I like but I am really new to cushions so I was hoping to get your opinions. I would like the cushion to face up rather large, 100% eye clean from all views, and "I" or a good "j" color.

If you could LMK your preference on your top 3 favs or if you see something else that I may love that's in this range please do share

Thanks for your help!

ERD doesn't post photos of the actual diamonds on their website -- actually, I think (may be wrong on this) that all of the diamonds on their website are virtual. In other words, there's no way for us to help you evaluate the diamonds that you posted.

If you want to buy from them, I strongly recommend that you call ERD and talk to Mark or Gary or someone. They will bring in a bunch of diamonds in your specs, do a visual selection for you, and then take photos or a video of 1-2 finalists for you. If you're anywhere on the East Coast, I'd recommend going to NYC to view the diamond IRL prior to purchase.

There are just too many factors that go into selecting a cushion, and there are no cut grades, so even if you don't go to NYC, you should have it shipped to an appraiser near you to view IRL prior to purchase. You just put a small deposit down to hold the diamond, and pay shipping.

Also, last I checked, ERDs upgrade policy only covers I color or better, and SI1 or better. So I'd avoid a J stone from them.

Re: Opinions on these cushions please :) - UPDATED with 2 mo

Hi,
Thank you for your reply! The person I dealt with never said anything about not being able to trade in a "J" stone even when I specifically asked about upgrading and the importance of that option IF I was buying online. Thank you for telling me that.

I was reading up on fancy cut stones and it seems as though an "H" or higher is ideal for a fancy cut - generally. I so far agree.

Below is a link to a stone I have on "hold" with WF. What are your thoughts?

My goals:
eye clean 100 percent
1.50 or higher (bigger better)
a stone that doesn't have "yellow" that is noticeable once set. A little warmth is fine but I don't want a "yellow diamond". I don't want someone looking at my ring and thinking gosh that is a bit yellow.

Here is the cushion:

Thoughts?

The other stone I am looking at is a
EGL USA
VS1 100000% eye clean
1.72 H&A
Ideal cut, exc polish & symmetry. It is a J color - very good price- slight hint of yellow, but I saw a I and saw a bit of yellow too and it wouldn't be worth going to an "I" but down to a 1.50 C for the same cost.

I would like to know your thought on them. I know I don't have a ASET image for the 1.72 because it's from a gentleman who sells wholesale in LA, CA. I do trust him and he has a great reputation.

I don't know if you can see the slight yellow here but in the larger size I can see a hint
