So I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the 1.85 ct emerald that was being discussed on an earlier thread. Many thanks to all those that helped--in particular Strm, Lorelei, and Stone-cold. I'm now trying to decide on a setting. I know that she wants a platinum solitaire ring--and wants whatever makes the diamond look the biggest. The options I've been considering:

4-Prong Tiffany Style: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/4-Prong-tiffany-style-solitaire-for-fancy-cut_756.htm

Sleek Lines: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-Sleek-Lines--Diamond-Solitaire_688.htm

Legato Sleek Line (apparently the Legato usually isn't compatible with an EC, but WF said they could make me a semi-custom ring that would work): http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-Legato--Sleek-Line-Diamond-Solitaire_1118.htm

Any thoughts/opinions would be great!

I like the legato sleek line, since it tapers towards the diamond it will make your diamond "appear to be larger" plus the shank is pretty thin which always helps make the diamond "pop" more

I agree, the taper is very flattering.
