Opinions on setting for my Asscher

As a former asscher owner, I vote YES!!! It's a beautiful setting and I think that it will set your diamond off perfectly!

Christina,

May I ask why you are a former asscher owner? I have seen here that people eventually trade their asscher in for a different stone. It made me apprehensive at first to choose it, but I couldn't help it. They are just so pretty

Perfect!

There are a few of us that still have their originals too. Me, NEL, Deco...

It was a very difficult decision. I loved everything about my asscher. I loved that it was unique and I loved the big bold flashes of color, DH affectionately called it the long slow burn! I loved that I could stare into the stone for a long long time and it seemed that I always saw something new. BUT, I was never happy with the face up size. :(( I have large size 7.5-8 fingers and my asscher was 1ct 5.5mm so it looked little on me, similar to a .7ct RB on someone with large hands. We had considered going larger but to get the spread I wanted we would have to upgrade to a 2-2.5 ct and a nice well cut diamond of that weight was way out of budget. I had also considered a halo or three stone, but I knew it my heart that this particular stone wasn't going to be my forever diamond and didn't want to invest more into it and then end up purchasing something different later. So I decided to purchase a 1.25 ct 7mm RB as a sort of stepping stone to the larger asscher later.

It was a nerve racking decision, because it has taken me a couple weeks to start coming around to the RB. I spent the first week picking it apart and finding flaws that didn't exist, but I'm finally settling in and really starting to enjoy it. =) And it fits my hand much more nicely. It feels like a well worn and loved pair of jeans, if that makes any sense. :loopy:

So, my biggest bit of advice would be to purchase the largest well cut, eye clean stone that you can afford, and consider extra bling in the setting, or a halo is a really nice idea. I love your setting choice though and I think that the side stones will help boost the appearance of your asscher.

I think an asscher would look great in that setting! I love step cuts with baguette sides.

I couldn't edit my post so I'll just quote myself. After I 'logged off' last night, I realized that you already purchased your big honkin' asscher!! I don't usually hang out in LIW so I missed your thread, but I heard through another that you had found one and that it was a fantastic deal for you! It will look amazing Schafemn, and it's a great size! No worries about DSS for you!! I just wanted to say congrats! And I can't wait to meet your ring, I know she is going to be beautiful!!! (Smilies aren't working but I'm sending lots of them your way!!!)

I love that setting for an Asscher. It's beautifully classic and will show off the center diamond.

wow.. i think it's beautiful too, am actually thinking that my emerald should set like that as well. I was originally going for an asscher as well but my friend said asscher is not popular, so i'm going for an emerald. And when i started reading the forum, seems like it's not that unpopular, a lot of ppl like asscher as well.

Thank you for sharing Christina!! The finger spread made me reconsider for a while. Although I knew if I picked any other stone I would probably be wondering what an asscher would look like on my finger right now. I can't wait to see your new stone when you are done with it.

Love diamond, if you like asscher you should go with an asscher. Who cares if it is popular or not? When I tell people that is what we are looking at, about half of them have no idea what I am talking about. Go with what your heart tells you, not someone else. Also, you are right. There are plenty of asscher lovers here in PS. :D
