Opinions on proportions (CAD)

I know this is a setting/CAD question, but it's for a colored stone . I got CADs and my first thought was that the halo looks too big. I don't want the colored stone to be lost in a sea of metal and melee. (Like a painting can be lost in a big ornate frame ).
But the more I look at it, the more I kinda like it. And I'm trying to picture it more 3 dimensional so I mocked it up in the inspo ring (made for a longer stone so not exact).
I trimmed the outer frame and reduced the bezel to make the halo smaller. Mock ups on the hand.
Anyone have an opinion?

The trimmed down version looks more elegant on your hand, I think=)2

Ugh, I can't decide. I just got CAD 2, and like it even more! I asked for a plastic so I can actually see the scale on my hand. I mentioned to him that I wanted to see a scaled down version too. This is from CAD 2:

CAD 2 definitely looks better than CAD 1. The trapezoids look better than round in the corners.

I agree! Just got this cad tonight and I think it looks way better. A little more art deco too, which is a big plus for me. Just not 100% sure on the scale/ proportions.

I love CAD #2. I might not be the best one to recommend trimmed down or not, since I am always drawn to big and gaudy:lol:. But I'm so excited to see your ring! I just love that spinel, even before the amazing recut!

Yes, cad 2 is a clear winner for me too!
I'm getting the plastic so I can see it on the hand, but may have to have it scaled back a bit.
@Mrs_Strizzle I'm a "kapow" ring fan too, so that's part of my struggle! Big rings don't scare me, but I'm just trying not to overwhelm this stone.

I got the plastic of CAD 2 today, and I really love it! I am not bothered by the proportions in real life, but would love some opinions. Should I ask to see it scaled down? My apologies for old lady hands, and the neon coral nails... 20190531_212847.jpg 20190531_212825.jpg 20190531_212710.jpg

I think you already know what I think. Perfect size and proportion for that ring finger. :kiss2:

Thanks @voce ! I was worried about it, but cads can be deceiving. On the hand, I think it doesn't really look like it overwhelms the stone. I've been wearing this plastic ring for hours, cooked dinner, folded laundry. It is low profile, not snagging on things.

Just my preference, I think the bezel around the centre stone is a little too thick
