Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster.
Thanks for all the information and advice you guys/gals have posted, it''s helped me immensely in my search for the perfect stone for my GF.

I have found what I think is a great H&A round brilliant stone for a "Tiffany-style" knife edge ring, but am a little concerned about the inclusions.
I''m awaiting high definition photographs and the ideal scope pictures, but the vendor tells me it''s eyeclean.

I''ve plugged the measurements into the HCA - gives me a score of 1.1 (excellent, excellent, excellent, very good) which I''m thrilled with.

Any opinions please? Would you be concerned that these inclusions will be visible in a 0.9ct VS2 stone? I understand that they "should" be very difficult or impossible to see without magnification....

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Hi Scott and welcome!

No worries with the inclusions in VS2, check that the diamond is eyeclean to your standards by checking with the vendor, but I would be surprised if it was not.

Looks like a great stone!

Thanks Lorelei.

It looks to be a good stone to me, but I have no experience at all in these matters

. So I really welcome your thoughts.
I guess my only concern was regarding the crystal/feather in the outer table region, and the "clouds" comment that seems to litter lots of GIA/AGS certificates.
The vendor tells me that all inclusions are internal, and that the stone is eyeclean..... so here''s hoping.

Is it worth trying to find a bit more carat for a slight drop in colour?? My GF wants the rock to DAZZLE her and be a FIREBALL. Will that be a problem with F/G/H stones?? Or would I be better off sticking with the D/E colours? It''d be nice to get to >1ct, but I''m already stretching the budget a bit, and the plummeting Australian dollar is hurting us down under

Anyone else got any concerns about the stone..... should I be worried at all?

FGH are white, without the price tag of D/E. Color has nothing to do with its fireball capabilities.

I would drop in color to save money, but not necessarily go up in carat size.

Like Lorelei already said, all is good with this stone until now. If you want to be sure that the stone is an incredible fireball, await the pics of the ideal-scope, and preferable also of H&A. This just gives you extra information, not covered by the HCA or the AGS-report.

The colour itself has no effect on the stone being a fireball or not. Going down in colour in order to get more weight depends highly on your own comfort-level, I would say.

Live long,

Fantastic, thanks for the info.
I''m due to see the magnified views, H&A pics, and video in diffused and bright light hopefully in the next few days....

Let us know how you get on

Well, I got the 40x image and the ASET image today, plus a few videos.
I''m not 100% sure on what to do...... the crystal inclusion and clouding are VERY obvious on the 40x right in the middle of the table
Still waiting for Ideal scope image and Hearts images, but I''m sure they''ll look great.
The thing looks like a fireball in both diffused and bright light (with magnification), but again it''s VERY easy to see the inclusion, even though it''s meant to be VS2.

Thoughts? Would you expect this to be visible with the naked eye?? I''m going to call the vendor tomorrow to MAKE SURE that it''s EYECLEAN. What should I do?

Hi sbf,

I very much doubt VS2 inclusions in this case will be visible to the naked eye, but ask the vendor to clarify. The diamond looks great!

Thanks Lorelei.
Any other final thoughts please??
I''m thinking this could be the one. The vendor ASSURES me that the stone is eye clean.

yes vs2 is still good, but you should check it with your own eyes

NOT happy.... Despite the stone being "on hold" for me, AND speaking to the manager yesterday, another employee sold the diamond out from under me today.

Very, very disappointed.

The search continues.....

I am so sorry....I can well imagine how you are feeling but the right diamond WILL come along.

Ok, here is another stone that is available. Only issue is that we''ve dropped down in clarity to SI1.
Apparently the stone is still eye-clean. Thoughts?

Looks great.

Make sure that the SI1 us eye clean. That crystal will likley be ok but you never know.......

As for the diamond being sold from under you, is this vendor giving you a discount now? Have you thought about going somewhere else?

Yeah, I'm a bit concerned myself. I was really trying to stay in the VS range, but got gazzumped on that stone.
On the diffused light video there doesn't appear to be anything visible through the table, but the inclusion can be seen through the pavilion whilst being rotated. I will ask the vendor if it's truly eye-clean, or just eye-clean through the table. My GF is very particular about this - she doesn't want ANY visible inclusions.... time will tell :)

I'm tempted to tell the vendor to go jump..... but, I figure I'd better rule out any other stones first
25.gif

If your GF is telling no visible inclusions I would not chance an SI1 People will argue with me here but everyone has different vision and it is a chance.... I am a VS person too...

What is your budget and are you open to other vendors. I would be uspet if a diamond was sold under me like that especially if I had it on hold! Not the kind of relationship I would want with a vendor. Don't feel pressured to settle on a diamond. There are soooo many to choose from at your size so don't settle IMO. I bet you will have so many other suggestions in an hours time if you give a budget.

Thanks Beach,

I'm thinking the same.... initially I was all set on a VVS stone, then fell down into the VS1 and later VS2 categories. I wouldn't normally have even considered a SI stone, but felt compelled to check out this guys stones before telling him to take a flying leap. I felt really let down by this guy, but up until then he had been fantastic, so thought about giving him a 2nd chance.

My budget is ~$15K Australian (used to be $14K US, but now closer to $10K US with our plummeting currency) for the stone and ring.

Unfortunately buying overseas is difficult because the purchase price will be subject to at least 15% tax on arrival in Australia, so that makes US online vendors a bit more expensive.

Agreed, the trouble is price...
The stone alone almost blows my budget. Add on another 15% import tax and GST and it''s well over before I even start looking at bands
8.gif

I''ll have a look at GOG too
What''s the local opinion on Bluenile?

I thought you said 10000 budget? Did you mean for the band and diamond? I see you did say for the ring and diamond I will find others... :) But you could easily find a band for 500 -800 at whiteflash and you could make the 10000 budget. I think they even have discounts now on certain packages.

Wish I''d bought 2 months ago when our dollar was $0.95 to the US.... now it''s hovering around $0.65
