I bought this diamond today and wanted to get opinions. Here are the specs:

Measurements: 6.45 6.49 3.99
Weight: 1.02 carat
Depth: 61.7%
Table: 56%
Girdle: Medium, Faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Clarity: VS2
Color: D
Fluorescense: None
Comments: A cloud is not shown
Price: $7,800

Wanted a VS1 but could not find one with all the other qualities I was seeking so went with the VS2. With a loupe I could see the inclusions easily (looked like tiny black specks) but I could not make out any kind of cloud. As far as I can see from the proportions, the cut is ideal and it''s an EX/EX thus the diamond should have the maximum and best balance of brilliance and fire, right? Just wanted to check with experts here to make sure I wasn''t missing anything.

Thanks.

If you have the proportions we can offer an opinion about the cut quality.

I only have a one-page fax of the GIA certificate. Where would the information you need be located (not sure how many pages a certificate is)? I also have a question about the inclusions: in a VS2 diamond is it normal that I would be able to see a cluster of about 15 little black points with a loupe? People refer to 10x magnification. How many times magnification is a loupe? Without the loupe nothing at all was visible.

Thanks. As you can see, I am a novice so all advice is much appreciated.

Loupes vary in magnification. A good one is probably labeled somewhere. Maybe just as a light engraving if it's a cheaper version.

If it's a VS2 you should probably be able to spot the inclusions readily using the 10X loupe.
