Opinions on Blue Nile Ring

Hello!

So I've recently been looking at engagement rings and finding what fits my style. I really like rings with a sapphire center stone and diamond halo. However, the settings and loose stones I love are often more than I'm really comfortable spending.

I'd like to get opinions on this ring. I know the sapphire isn't the best quality for numerous reasons, but I'm wondering if the setting seems worth the price. Currently, it costs $1750 after being discounted 50% from $3500 (I'm not sure why that is).

If you follow the link, there is a 360 video of the ring.

Do you like really really dark sapphires? That sapphire will appear black because it's so dark most of the time, is that what you are looking for?

Something like these would seem better value;

I'm sure everyone else can find nice things in that price range too....

I wouldn't buy that if I were you. The stone is going to be black and look "dead" in most lights.

If you are buying a colored stone, never buy from a website that only gives you stock photos. I suspect most of the price for the ring is actually for the designer setting. That sapphire, which looks like a stock sapphire and may be better looking than the one you actually receive, already looks very gray and dark, not vibrant. It would cost maybe $50-$100 at wholesale.

Are you absolutely set on having a blue sapphire? An 8x6 oval blue or pink sapphire of an excellent quality would cost around $1.8k-$2.4k on its own, but there are plenty of other colored stones such as spinel and tourmaline that would make stunning center stones.
