Hi there

i am looking at an antique stone in France. It is at one of the most reputable dealers in Paris. the stone looks very beautiful to me but as it is an antique stone -- so some of its numbers seem off. It is a round brilliant, 2.38 carats; VS1, i color. The crown angle is 30% however and it has an extra facet: The pavillion is 43.6%. Also the polish is good -- i know that is not very desirable and the symetry is only ,edium. Again, it`s an old stone - so it might explain some of the imperfections

The dealer is selling it at 15,500 Euros in a simple setting which I would say is valued at around 500 euros

What do you think? It shows at at least a 2.5 carat to me and because of slight flourescence; it also shozs as a whiter stone: Totally eye clean

The price sounds very high for such a quality.
If you are in Paris, why don't you go to Antwerp to find a better and cheaper diamond?

So this is a modern round brilliant not a true antique? And it's not an OEC or an OMC or a transitional?

If that's correct, and it's not something once owned by a famous person, then I'd judge it by the same standards I'd just a new diamond. It seems a little pricey, but I'm sure that's partly because it's from a large, well-known B&M.
