another ec window?

just looking around...and i am doing some charts on EC specs for my own research

fair enough. what about the *large* crown?

large? you mean high? i actually like a crown from about 12 to 16 or 17 b/c the stone has more pop if everything else is good. also EC seem to lookl too flat in their settings without a decent crown. do you know if there is a cut calculator for fancies?

yes, high.

This stone is a fancy... and as such can vary in its appearance.

The Regent cut is cut with a higher crown percentage, and they look great to someone who prefers spectral color.

Also the crown height depends on the adjacent crown angle, as well as L/W ratio.

Although my observation of these stones, is that a 20% crown height or greater, usually denotes a well performing stone, I have also seen the occasional one with 8% crown height that really is an excellent performer;

well of course its a fancy? can you clarify your comments---------"Although my observation of these stones, is that a 20% crown height or greater, usually denotes a well performing stone, I have also seen the occasional one with 8% crown height that really is an excellent performer;" what are "these" stones?

windowshopper,
I am more concerned about the depth, which I think is way too much. The stone doesn''t fare well w.r.t the AGA charts, which will put the stone under 3B.

i agree but i wondered if the price was discounted enough..................and maybe it would still be a good performer

Now I think about it, it might actually be a better stone what the depth numbers actually say, because IMO we can subtract 4-5% of depth since the crown height is 17%, about 3-5% higher than an average for an ideal EC based on AGA charts.

Sorry Window ....

20% is a typo.... meant to say 10% . Bought a new computer that I generally use for the Sarin Dia Vision and the B Scope....The one I use for typing had a lot of problems. But the keyboard that came with the new computer ( HP) I really hate...

I haven''t seen any square or rectangular shaped diamonds that have higher crowns than 17% ish..

Hopefully this clarifies. my mistake...

Changed keyboards today.. been having trouble with both mouse and keyboard. Mouse froze and keyboard wouldn''t type letters.. when I changed them, then things started working again...

Changed the mouse too, to an older one - but it doesn''t have the wheel on it like my wireless trackball, had so going to look at those tomorrow.
