Hey everyone:
I was fortunate enough to stumble across this forum while searching for a diamond for an engagement ring to propose to my girlfriend. I must have spent 20 hours reading other threads and I feel much more confident about choosing a diamond now. However, I still wanted to run my potential choice by you guys since you have been so helpful to so many people.
I came into the search prior to Pricescope with a $2,000 budget for the diamond (she prefers to spend the big bucks on colored stones but still wants to go the diamond route on the engagement ring). I want a round stone between 0.75 - 1 carats with as great a cut as possible and am not too picky on the other stats as long as it is eye clean and reasonably colorless. After reading up on (strong/very strong) fluor and telling my girlfriend about we both decided it was something we definitely wanted if just for the novelty. Although the potential color benefits certainly don't hurt!
OK enough background...these are the stone stats:
Shape: Round
Carat weight: 0.84
Cut: Premium
Color: I
Clarity: SI2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 60.0%
Table: 61.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Excellent
Girdle: Thin to medium, faceted
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Strong
Measurements: 6.12*6.16*3.68

OK, so my main questions:
1) Cut - I was initially hoping for a H&A cut, but could not find any near my desired specs within the price range (no fluor either). To my inexperienced eye the facet patterning/reflections/shadows (not sure what to call them) look very appealing and better than some of the James Allen "Ideal" cuts. Are my eyes fooling me and is there anything about the cut that looks wonky? The center of the stone looks like Pac-Man instead of a complete circle...is this anything to be concerned about?
2) Inclusions - On the GIA cert there is one large feather and a few smaller ones. I can easily see the large one with the virtual loupe but am guessing that it would be almost impossible to notice in real life - am I right to assume this? There is also a round "indented natural" on the cert (what is an indented natural?) but I can not find it using the virtual loupe...does this mean it is not visible from the face up view?
3) Do you have any clue whether James Allen takes their pictures under any amount of UV light? Is the yellow tint I see around the edges of the stone the worst case scenario as far as color goes?
4) Any other comments??? I feel that I did my homework, but I've never studied a diamond up close By the way, she and her family are all gemstone nuts who come from southeast Asia so I will be judged! Luckily they aren't into diamonds
