Very pretty!

Getting some mixed feedback from the colored stone crowd.

Here's another pic and video:

Any comments appreciated.

I think you got plenty of valuable comments over in the colored stone forum.

Yes, I didn't mean to seem like I was trying to bump my thread or anything, just on the colored stone section. A member suggested to post here as he thought more experienced forum members viewed RockyTalky the most.

Now the main negatives I got over there is the diamond doesn't have enough fire and brilliance, especially the dark areas around the edges face up...

This is another one I am considering.

IF, 2.46c. FY.

Something a bit off on the symmetry it seems, but it looks more beautiful in the video, and doesn't seem like it's losing much color.

The photos of 2.46 look undoctored and correct for this intensity of yellow.

I don't really care for it. I think the performance at the edges shows a lot of leakage and I would pass. Personally.

You're talking about the 2.38c one right? Yea it seems alot of opinions are that the extinction on the edges are bit too overwhelming, even if the cut is sacrificing for color.

Here are pics of the 2.46 FY:

For this one, I think the color saturation is quite nice for a FY, but I'm not sure what's going on the edges in the pic the 3oclock and 6oclock edges. Almost seems the cut looks totally different there compared to the rest of the stone.

Do you have a budget? Maybe I can look for you?

Thank you, I would love that, my experience with FCD is quite limited IMO.

My requirements are as follows:
Budget from 23-28k for center stone (natural only of course), Up to 30k max for the right stone.
Cushion or Radiant.
Carat size 2.15-2.5
Square shape (ratio ideally 1.01-1.03, I can maybe deal with up to a 1.05 for the right stone)
at least VS2+
a very good FY or FIY.
Ideally I'd get it from an online jeweler with FCD experience, so I can look into a setting at the same place.

The other grading criteria I'm a bit of a newb on, whatever you think has the best sparkle/fire etc., Probably a VG+ in polish G+ symmetry. Probably none or faint fluro. I'd be ok with a wide range of table/depth percentages, as long as dimensions aren't too small for the carat weight.

Much thanks for anything,

I have personally purchased many diamonds from Reddiam. They have always been a pleasure to work with. They have a bench as well so setting your stone wouldn't be an issue.

Is square a deal breaker? how about an elongated square, sometimes called a rectangle. I really like the strong colour of this one. Cut seems fine too.

Those first two from Reddiam, I actually just looked at them and they look quite beautiful.

Especially that first stone. Although the price seems too good for the beauty. And there is only one picture shown in a bit of off angle.

The second one is also nice, but again it seems a bit convenient to have that perfect square and just over 3 carat size...

I think I'll ask them for more pictures of those two and see how it turns out :)

I agree reddiam's prices are very competitive. They will provide further pics and maybe a video (there is a big diamond show in Hong Kong right now, so some stock travels with them to the show) if the diamond is available.

Leibish is a fine operation, provides excellent service and have a great reputation. They also tend to charge a bit more. Wary first time coloured diamond buyers will feel comfortable buying from them, due to their reputation and will pay the premium. Because of this I wouldn't use their prices to try and figure out FCD pricing. It would be similar to using Tiffany & Co. to find colourless diamond prices.

Either way let us know what you do. We rarely see FCD engagement rings and I'm very excited :ugeek:

Yes, I'm very interested in the two Reddiam has, and like you said, there's a HK show going on, so they can't get anymore pics for me atm. Not even sure if either of the two are available.

Ariel those diamonds look beautiful. Unfortunately the antique cut one is much smaller then I want, as well both of those stones have other hues on them that I'm very indifferent about. I really just am looking for a lemony plain FY or FIY.

I'll differently keep you guys updated on the progress, this FCD shopping is really requiring alot of research then I anticipated :P

I too like the first from Reddiam although pix are so hard to judge fancy colors on as I do feel that pix really emphasize even the smallest "faults" in the cut of fancy colors, well, one must understand these stones are cut for color first and foremost and judging cut is entirely different in fancy colors than in colorless. Still the first Reddiam stone is really close to perfect in the eveness of color and lack of dead areas. The best of the above options IMHO. As you said though it may have been taken to sold in HK but you can always contact them for options.
